Whether your first Silversea cruise or your tenth, you will naturally have questions about various cruise policy regulations and what to expect onboard and ashore. Silversea has compiled some essential cruise information regarding preparation and packing for your voyage, as well as descriptions of certain onboard services and facilities. This is only a general summary of helpful information. For complete details, please refer to Silversea’s Terms and Conditions and the Passage Contract downloadable in PDF in the Terms and Conditions section . If you have additional questions or a special request, please contact your travel professional or Silversea Reservations.
Final Documents will be mailed/posted approximately 21-30 days prior to the sailing date, provided Silversea has received all necessary information. Please review all Silversea cruise documents carefully, and ensure a smooth sailing by reading through the helpful cruise information and cruise policy regulations in the Setting Sail Guide.
Arrival & Departures
To ensure that your journey and cruise embarkation run smoothly, please remember to bring along all required travel documents. These include air and cruise tickets, passport, visa and, if required, medical card inoculation verification. Please be aware that security measures imposed by overseas governments may change from time to time. It is your responsibility to secure all relevant documentation for your cruise vacation. If any guest fails to obtain and to have such documents readily available, that guest may be denied boarding and accommodation, or the guest may be disembarked during the voyage. Please note: Some countries you visit may require that your passport be valid for six months following your return date.
For your personal safety, all guests are required to provide the above-mentioned documentation in order to board Silversea’s vessels. Should you have any questions regarding travel documents, please consult your travel professional for advice.
Please review your flight information carefully prior to embarking on your trip. Please reconfirm your airline reservations and flight departure time 24 hours prior to leaving home. If you find that your flight will be delayed beyond your ship’s departure time, please contact Silversea immediately at 800-722-9955 or 954-522-2299 (US) or +44(0) 844 770 9030 (UK). If the office is closed, please contact the ship directly. You may dial the ship directly by using a credit card. From within the US call 888-722-3562; from outside the US the number is 732-335-3263.
To dial the ship directly without using a credit card, you will need to first dial the International Dialing cod (i.e. 011, 99) plus (870) then the telephone number or fax number shown below:
Example (calling Silver Cloud): 001-954-672-7211
Your cruise embarkation time is included in your final cruise documents. Please arrive at the ship at the specified time. (For guests whose Silversea package includes a mandatory charter air flight, please arrive at the airport at the time specified in your final cruise documents.) Once you arrive at the terminal, you will be asked to show your Silversea luxury cruise documents and your passport. Please keep all necessary documents handy in your carry-on bag throughout the cruise embarkation process.
If you would like to make arrangements for a Bon Voyage Party and/or to have visitors board the vessel at your embarkation port, please ask your travel professional to contact Silversea’s Special Services Department at email@example.com for assistance. Requests must be made in writing no later than 14 days prior to departure. For security reasons, visitors on embarkation day must be pre-registered with Silversea. For visitors during the voyage other than embarkation day, arrangements may be made on board. Silversea reserves the right to limit the number of visitors permitted on board.
Disembarkation begins shortly after clearance by local Customs (usually two hours after the ship’s arrival). On disembarkation day, guests should plan on vacating their suites by 8:30 a.m.
Due to distance between some ports and the airport, guests should allow additional time for departing flights. This is to allow for cruise disembarkation formalities, custom and immigration procedures, transfer time to the airport and two to three hours for flight check-in. Guests requiring a wheelchair should notify Silversea in order for appropriate transportation and/or accommodation arrangements to be made prior to cruise disembarkation.
Cruise Information to Know Before Booking
Silversea cruise guidelines state that minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied, in the same or connecting suite, by a parent or other responsible adult over the age of 21. If the adult accompanying the minor is not their parent, a parental consent guardianship form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian and received by Silversea prior to sailing. Guests must be 21 years of age or older to purchase or consume alcohol. Silversea reserves the right to refuse to serve anyone who in its sole judgment may be under the influence of alcohol, or for any reason necessary in its judgement to preserve the health and safety of guests and employees.
Silver Explorer and Silver Discoverer cannot accommodate infants under the age of 1 year. Silver Galapagos cannot accommodate children under the age of 6 years. Silver Cloud, Silver Wind, Silver Shadow, Silver Whisper and Silver Spirit cannot accommodate infants under the age of 6 months. Guests must notify Silversea of any children between the ages of 6 months and 1 year who will be sailing on board the ship. A signed and notarised waiver will be required for all children between these ages. Although Silversea accepts guests over the age of 6 months (over the age of 1 year for Silversea Expeditions), there are no special programmes for children on board our luxury cruise ships, and Silversea does not provide for the care, entertainment or supervision of children. Silversea reserves the right to limit the number of children less than 3 years of age.
In addition, the Zodiacs used for Silversea Expeditions are unable to accommodate children younger than 6 years of age. As Silversea does not provide babysitting services, an adult family member will be required to remain on board Silver Explorer with their child(ren) during Zodiac excursions.
To ensure the safety of our younger guests, children up to the age of 8 years old are only permitted to participate in suitable Silver Shore Excursions/shuttle service if the vehicles are equipped with the correct safety harness and seating equipment to accommodate young guests. Alternately guests may use their own approved safety seat, booster seat or harness provided they are compatible with the local touring vehicle and can properly secure the young guest. Child harnesses and secure seating cannot be guaranteed. Silversea reserves the right to refuse children under the age of 8 years old on any cruise shore excursion on the basis of safety.
Pets cannot be accommodated on any Silversea cruise.
Should the cruise of your choice be unavailable, you may ensure a position on a waitlist for that cruise by making a deposit of USD$250 or international currency equivalent per guest, which will be applied toward your cruise deposit requirement and/or final payment should a suite become available. If a suite becomes available and you choose not to reserve, or should no suite become available, your deposit will be refunded.
Credit Cards & Currency
Any and all onboard payments to Silversea shall be made in US dollars. All charges for services provided and products purchased on board the ship must be paid for by cash (US dollars), traveller’s cheque (US dollars) or credit card (VISA®, MasterCard® or American Express®) at the end of each voyage segment and before your final disembarkation from the ship. A 2% transaction fee will be charged for all cash advances. Foreign transaction fees are possible.

Silver Shore Cruise Excursion Cancellations
Cruise excursions must be cancelled by the specified deadline in order to avoid cancellation penalties. Most tours may be cancelled on board by the date and time specified on the Silver Shore Booking Form, which is available in your suite upon boarding. Other tours have specific deadline dates shown in the detailed tour description. Cancellations made after the specified deadline are subject to penalties of up to 100%, which will be charged to your shipboard account. Within 7 days of sailing, tours may no longer be reserved or cancelled via My Voyage. Please see the Shore Concierge on board to book tours or make any changes.
Onboard Internet services are available. Beginning with January 2016 sailings, every guest will receive at least one free hour of WiFi per day, with select suites receiving unlimited WiFi. Please click here for our WiFi packages. Guests may use their own laptop with wireless card to conveniently access the Internet and personal email in the privacy of their own suite and at WiFi locations throughout the ship. Computers, email and Internet access are also available on your luxury cruise ship via the Internet Café for a nominal fee. Email and Internet access is available after 2:00pm on embarkation day, continues to operate 24 hours a day throughout the voyage, and is closed at 11:00pm on the final night of the cruise. Internet support is available daily during posted hours.
When on board, guests may send and receive phone calls, text messages and other select data services on their own mobile phone. Guests will be billed by their home mobile phone provider and calls or messages will appear as roaming charges on their bill. Before leaving home, guests should contact their provider to confirm a roaming agreement with Silversea has been established for ship-to-shore communications.
For guests travelling from the Americas, Silversea, in partnership with AT&T, is now offering discounted cellular service packages aboard all ships. These packages are available by contacting AT&T in advance of your voyage. Details about the packages, instructions on how to purchase them, and AT&T Terms and Conditions are available at www.att.com/cruiseships.
Each Silversea ship is equipped with a telephone system that allows guests to make direct-dial phone calls from the privacy of their suite while at sea. Calls will be billed to the guest’s shipboard account. Please consult the ship’s Reception Desk for the current rate. (In 2011, the rate was USD$9.50 per minute.) Should someone wish to reach you while you are at sea, please refer to the Leave Behind Information provided in your Final Cruise Documents.
Prior to your departure date, Silversea will provide you with a list of port addresses where mail can be delivered to you throughout your voyage. Postage and mailing services are available on board.
Fax reception is complimentary. ship-to-shore communications phone calls and fax transmissions are available at an additional charge. A black and white laser printer is available for your use in the Internet Café at no additional charge.
Communication via satellite is a significantly different experience compared to high-speed connections on shore. The signal travels in a similar manner to radio waves but at much greater distances. That is why onboard Internet access is inconsistent and cannot be guaranteed at all times. Satellite communications are also affected by weather and the ship’s location. As such, there may be temporary outages of any satellite-connected service, including Internet connections, cell phones, in-suite phones, television broadcast channels and world news summaries.
Considering the limits of satellite bandwidth, Internet access should be used only for email communication and web browsing. Certain websites and services may be restricted due to limited bandwidth. Certain online activities require high-bandwidth and will be more frustrating than enjoyable. These online activities should be avoided while on board:
Please note that onboard systems do not support 3G technology; the only option for iPad® users to access the Internet on board is via WiFi. Unfortunately, iPads assign little battery power to their internal signal. Unless the WiFi signal is very strong, it is likely you will experience interruptions or may not be able to connect at all. You may notice laptop users have no trouble connecting to the WiFi on board, while an iPad in the same spot drops and reconnects. In addition, the satellite signal fluctuates and iPads are more sensitive to this fluctuation, which may interrupt your iPad Internet session while going unnoticed on other devices.
All Silversea ships* provide, at no costs to guests, a selection of recently-released movies, TV shows and documentaries. This content can easily be streamed to guests’ Apple® or android devices. In addition, guests can view newspapers from over 60 countries on a daily basis through the same devices. This service is available at no charge to guests through the ships’ wireless network.

Some champagne, premium wine and spirit selections, caviar, cigarettes and cigars are not included in your fare.
Under normal conditions the cruise-only fare is guaranteed at the time of booking. However, the fare that you pay is determined far in advance of initial departure on the basis of then-existing projections of fuel and other costs. In the event of any significant change in such costs beyond Silversea’s control, including but not limited to increases in the price of fuel, currency fluctuations affecting Silversea’s costs, increases in government taxes or levies, or increased security costs, Silversea reserves the right to surcharge guests to cover such unexpected costs. Silversea has the right to refuse to transport guests unless the additional surcharge is paid in advance of initial departure.
(Not applicable on Silver Explorer)
A limited number of suites are available for purchase on a single- or third-guest occupancy basis. These charges include taxes and fees imposed on Silversea by governmental or quasi-governmental agencies and include, but are not limited to, such items as arrival or departure taxes and per person port usage or impact fees. Savings and incentive programmes do not apply to Taxes and Government/Quasi-Government Fees or to the portion of the guest’s cruise fare, which is non-commissionable pursuant to the Silversea’s travel professional commission policy.
Please note that guests joining or leaving the cruise in any port other than the scheduled embarkation and/or disembarkation port may be subject to additional governmental taxes, fees or fines.
Silversea reserves the right to pass through to its guests (including fully paid and deposited guests) any taxes and government fees/quasi-government fees that relate specifically to a guest’s itinerary. “Taxes and Government fees/quasi-government fees” include any and all fees, charges, surcharges, tolls and taxes imposed by governmental or quasi-governmental authorities including, but not limited to, customs fees, per person berth taxes or fees, embarkation and/or disembarkation fees at ports, airline transportation fees, dockage fees, and wharfage fees.
Silversea reserves the right to charge a per person fuel supplement in the event that the price of Brent* crude oil is greater than $80.00 per barrel at any time prior to sailing, up to and including the day of embarkation.
*Brent crude oil prices published on www.Bloomberg.com
Silversea may collect any taxes, government fees/quasi-government fees and fuel supplement (the “Surcharges”) at the time of booking, prior to sailing or on board the vessel, even if the cruise fare has been paid in full. Surcharges will be invoiced accordingly.
Silversea Cruise Credits have no cash value, are non-transferable, and may only be used in conjunction with the purchase of a Silversea cruise prior to the expiration date. These credits are valid toward the published cruise-only brochure fares and are applied to bookings after any air credit, if applicable, and all other savings programmes. Certain restrictions may apply.
To reserve your Silversea cruise, a 25% deposit of the total cruise fare is required within seven days of booking or sooner, depending on voyage and time of booking. Full payment is due no later than 120 days prior to departure. Guests will not be permitted to change travel agents once final payment has been received by Silversea. Final documentation will be issued after receipt of final payment and approximately 30 days prior to sailing. All reservations are subject to cancellation if payments are not received by the due date, and are guaranteed only when paid in full 120 days prior to sailing. Reservations made within 120 days of sailing require full payment within seven days of booking or sooner, as specified by Silversea. Payments may be made by cheque (USD funds), or by VISA®, MasterCard®, American Express®, Discover Card®.
On those cruises where a value added tax (VAT) is required by local law to be collected for select purchases made onboard, the value added tax will be applied to your shipboard account and must be paid prior to disembarkation.
International cabotage laws may prohibit guests from embarking or disembarking their voyage in any port except the main scheduled embarkation and disembarkation ports. If you choose to embark/disembark your voyage at any unscheduled embarkation/disembarkation port, you may incur additional charges intended to cover any fine or penalty levied against Silversea and any other additional costs.

Health & Medical Requirements
All guests are required to report in writing to Silversea at the
time their reservation is made:
By booking passage and by boarding the ship, the guest
represents and warrants that he / she is physically and otherwise
fit to travel, and that the guest will comply at all times with
applicable rules and regulations of the ship and orders and
instructions of the ship’s officers and medical staff. Silversea
reserves the right without liability to require a guest to disembark
and / or to refuse to board and transport a guest who, in the
judgment of Silversea or the ship’s Master, is unfit to travel or
may require care beyond that which Silversea is reasonably
able to provide. Silversea strongly recommends wheelchair
guests travel with someone who is able to assist them both
ashore and at sea as Silversea may be unable to offer special
assistance. Please note that wheel-on and / or wheel-off access
may not be available at some ports-of-call. Wheelchair guests
must bring their own collapsible wheelchair.
For guests travelling aboard Expedition Fleet vessels, Silversea strongly recommends wheelchair guests travel with someone who is able
to assist them both ashore and at sea as Silversea may be unable
to offer special assistance. Please note that wheel-on and / or
wheel-off access may not be available at some ports-of-call.
Wheelchair guests must bring their own collapsible wheelchair.
For guests travelling aboard Silver Galapagos, those guests
requiring wheel-on and / or wheel-off access must contact
Silversea prior to making a booking. Silversea reserves the right
to deny boarding to any guest who failed to notify Silversea of
such requirement at the time of booking.
At the time of booking, expectant mothers are required to supply a medical certificate establishing their fitness for travel at the time they are due to travel. Silversea is unable to accommodate women who have entered their twenty-fourth (24th) week of pregnancy and will not be responsible or liable for any complication relative to any pregnancy during the entire duration of their Silversea cruise / holiday or thereafter. Additionally, airlines may have restrictions that may differ from Silversea’s. Please contact your travel professional or airline.
Generally, inoculations are not required in most areas where Silversea travels. These requirements are subject to change and it is recommended that you verify current guidelines with your travel professional prior to departure. Please note that when travelling to countries that do require inoculations, written verification will be necessary. Before taking any trip overseas, it is wise to check with your doctor, particularly if you are under a doctor’s care.
Each Silversea ship is equipped with a Medical Centre, which is customarily staffed by a doctor and nurse on 24-hour call when at sea. When docked, supplementary emergency care may also be obtained through local medical facilities. Guests may be charged for medical services and for medications used for their medical treatment. The Medical Centre is not intended or designed to provide ongoing treatment of pre-existing conditions or for extended critical care, and Silversea is not responsible for the diagnosis, treatment or services furnished by shipboard medical personnel. Guests requiring oxygen for medical reasons are welcome to bring an oxygen concentrator onboard. Guests wishing to bring their own portable oxygen tanks must obtain prior written authorisation from Silversea, as restrictions may apply.
At the time of booking, expectant mothers are required to supply a medical certificate establishing their fitness for travel at the time they are due to travel. Silversea is unable to accommodate women who have entered their twenty-fourth (24th) week of pregnancy and will not be responsible or liable for any complication relative to any pregnancy during the entire duration of the cruise or there after. Additionally, airlines may have restrictions that may differ from Silversea’s. Please contact your travel professional or airline.
For your convenience and wellbeing, it is important that you bring a sufficient supply of any prescription medicine you may need. Prescriptions cannot be refilled onboard, and usually cannot be refilled overseas. To prevent delays in clearing Customs, it is also a good idea to travel with a doctor’s letter explaining that your prescription medication is required for your continued health. It is also recommended that the medicine remain in its original container with the original pharmacy label intact.
If you have any existing medical condition that may require attention, or should you require oxygen for medical reasons whilst onboard, please send written notification prior to your voyage to email@example.com or via fax to 954-759-5049. Please note that an oxygen concentrator is the only form of oxygen equipment that the Silversea ships can accommodate. Guests who rely upon wheelchairs must bring their own. Please note that not all shore excursions are suitable for guests with impaired mobility.
You may bring aboard the luxury cruise ship a reasonable amount of clothing and personal effects without charge. Luggage for Silversea guests or guests on Land Adventures must be handled in accordance with regulations and tariffs of airlines and/or ground operators. Luggage exceeding these limitations is subject to the charges as set forth by the individual operators. Airlines are strict with luggage limitations. Guests are encouraged to contact individual airlines for weight limitations. Guests are, at all times, responsible for airline baggage fees. For travel to/from and within the United States, please visit https://bags.amadeus.com/ or the individual air carriers’ website for a complete listing of baggage fees.
Guests are also encouraged to pack a smaller bag for all Land Adventures to avoid extra luggage charges. All luggage must be securely packed, and properly and clearly labelled. Liquid, fragile, perishable and other articles not suitably packed are transported at your own risk. Silversea is not responsible for loss or damage to luggage or any other personal item during air travel, Hotel Programmes, Land Adventures or shore excursions.
Luggage and personal belongings will be taken off the ship upon guest disembarkation. Under no circumstances will luggage be stored onboard without the owner of such luggage being on the vessel. Silversea is not responsible for luggage stored in shoreside facilities.
Under no circumstances may dangerous items (including but not limited to: explosives, firearms, combustible or illegal substances) be taken aboard the cruise ship. Silversea recommends that you hand-carry travel documents (passport, visa, cruise tickets), medications and valuables. These items are the full responsibility of the guest at all times. Silversea shall not be responsible for the loss of, or damage to, such personal items.
Silversea may levy a charge for the return of personal items left on board or lost and subsequently found.
Minors & Childcare
Silversea cruise guidelines state that children under the age of 18 must be accompanied, in the same or connecting suite, by a parent or other responsible adult over the age of 21 for the duration of the voyage. If the adult accompanying the minor is not their parent, a parental consent guardianship form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian and received by Silversea prior to sailing. Please contact our Special Services Department at SpecialServices@Silversea.com for a Parental Consent Form. Guests must be 21 years of age or older to purchase or consume alcohol. Silversea reserves the right to refuse to serve anyone who in its sole judgment may be under the influence of alcohol, or for any reason necessary in its judgement to preserve the health and safety of guests and employees.
Silver Cloud, Silver Wind, Silver Shadow, Silver Whisper and Silver Spirit cannot accommodate infants under the age of 6 months. Guests must notify Silversea of any children between the ages of 6 months and 1 year who will be sailing on board the ship. Children under the age of 8 years old are only permitted to participate in suitable Silver Shore Excursions / shuttle service if the vehicles are equipped with the correct safety harness and seating equipment. Child harnesses and secure seating cannot be guaranteed. Silversea reserves the right to refuse children under the age of 8 years old on any tour on the basis of safety. Guests may use their own approved safety seat, booster seat or harness provided they are compatible with the local touring vehicle and can properly secure the child.
Silver Explorer and Silver Discoverer : Carrier is unable to accommodate children less than one (1)
year of age. No children under the age of six (6) years will be allowed onboard Zodiacs®. Children
under the age of six (6) years will be unable to participate in any expeditions which require
the use of Zodiac® transfer to go ashore. As Silversea does not provide babysitting services, an adult family member will be required to remain on board Silver Explorer and Silver Discoverer with their child(ren) during Zodiac excursions. For Silver Galapagos voyages: Carrier is unable to accommodate children less than six (6) years of age.
There are no special programmes for children of any age on board, and Silversea does not provide for the care, entertainment or supervision of children. Silversea reserves the right to limit the number of children less than 3 years of age.
Packing Your Cruise Luggage
A reasonable amount of cruise luggage may be brought aboard the ship without charge. For Silversea guests or guests on land programmes, luggage must be handled in accordance with regulations and tariffs of airlines and/or ground operators.
Luggage allowance policies may vary by airline, destination and class of service. Most, if not all, airlines strictly enforce their carry-on and checked luggage policies and you may be required to pay additional fees should the weight and size of your luggage be outside the airline’s set policy and/or the number of pieces exceed the free luggage allowance. Since the airlines’ policies change frequently, it is strongly recommended that you or your travel professional obtain current baggage allowance restrictions via the airline’s website or by contacting the air carriers directly.
Please note that guests are, at all times, fully responsible for any/all airline baggage fees. For travel to/from and within the United States, please visit https://bags.amadeus.com/ or the individual air carriers’ website for a complete listing of baggage fees.
Silver Shore Land Adventures may impose additional baggage limitations. Your final travel documents include the details of your Land Adventure’s baggage limitations, if applicable. All luggage must be securely packed and tagged with the supplied pre-printed cruise luggage tags supplied as part of your documentation package. In accordance with airport security restrictions for carry-on baggage, it is recommended that you hand carry travel documents (passports, visas, inoculation verification, cruise and air tickets), medications and valuables. Liquid, fragile, perishable and other articles not suitably packed are transported at your own risk. Under no circumstances may dangerous items (including but not limited to: explosives, firearms, combustible or illegal substances) be taken aboard the ship.
Silversea is not responsible for loss or damage to luggage or any other personal item that may occur, or while participating in hotel and/or land programmes or shore excursions. To avoid the possibility of losing cruise luggage en route to the port of embarkation, it is recommended to ship your cruise luggage ahead of you via Silversea’s Silver Shore Baggage Valet programme or other service.
Upon embarkation, Silversea will make every effort to deliver your cruise luggage in a timely manner; however delivery may be delayed due to strict customs formalities that are beyond the ship’s control, so please remember to pack all essentials in your carry-on bag.
Shipboard attire ranges from casual to formal. Casual wear is appropriate for daytime aboard ship or ashore and consists of standard sports outfits as worn at five-star resorts. Shoes should be flat or low heeled for deck activities. Evening attire falls into three categories: casual, informal and formal. On casual evenings, pants, blouses, skirts and casual dresses for ladies; open-neck shirts and slacks for gentlemen are appropriate. On informal evenings, ladies usually wear dresses or pantsuits; gentlemen wear jackets (tie optional). Appropriate formal evening wear for ladies is an evening gown or cocktail dress; gentlemen wear tuxedos, dinner jackets or dark suits. Tie is required.
On formal nights, guests may dine in La Terrazza and choose to dress informal; dresses or pantsuits for ladies, jackets for gentlemen (tie optional). This option also applies to Seishin and Stars on board Silver Spirit. Dining at The Grill is optional casual
all nights. Following dinner, all guests are free to take advantage of any or all public spaces, however, jacket is required. Sailings of 9 days or less typically feature 1 formal night, while longer voyages usually have 2-3 formal nights. Details will be provided in your final cruise documents, but the chart below provides a basic guideline to assist in packing the proper attire.
Please note: On 7 day sailings in the Baltic, Mediterranean and
Alaska, formal night is always optional; guests may choose to
dress informal, a jacket is required for gentlemen.

Since there is so much to see and do while exploring the sights, you will find that the most important item to pack in your cruise luggage is a pair of comfortable, sturdy shoes. This is particularly important for shoreside explorations where the ground is often uneven and where extensive walking or climbing may be required. Casual attire is appropriate at all times when ashore. Clothing that can be layered to accommodate different temperatures is most versatile and comfortable. Appropriate dress should be worn on shore excursions that visit a mosque, cathedral or monastery. Guests wearing shorts or skirts above the knee or women with bare shoulders may not be permitted to enter. Please check with the Tour Desk aboard the ship for dress requirements before departing on tour.
Complete valet services, including laundry, pressing and dry cleaning, are available at an additional charge and may be arranged through your butler. Customary charges will apply. A self-service launderette offers washing machines, dryers, irons and laundry supplies, allowing you to limit the amount of cruise luggage needed, especially for longer voyages.
For your convenience, 110-volt (American current) and 220-volt (European current) outlets are provided in your suite, accommodating small appliances without the use of adapters or electric converters. A hair dryer is provided in each suite. Irons are available in the launderette should clothing folded in your cruise luggage need a quick pressing.
Every Silversea suite is equipped with a personal safe, located inside your walk-in wardrobe. Please take great care with your money, jewellery, cameras, binoculars, documents and any other articles that you retain in your personal control or keep in your suite, as Silversea is not responsible for damage to, or loss of, these items.
Though The Boutique onboard does carry some toiletries, you should pack an appropriate supply of essential items in your cruise luggage, including film and batteries for your camera, as well as over-the-counter medications and prescription drugs.
Prestige travel company Silversea offers a wide range of services that can be booked in advance.
Appointments for most salon services and spa treatments can be made 120 days prior to sailing via [My Voyage].
For Silversea Expeditions, salon and spa appointments cannot be made in advance.
Port highlights and complete details on all shore excursion programmes are linked to each online voyage itinerary. Most shore excursions can be pre-booked 90 days prior to sailing via My Silversea. Personalised excursions can be created in advance by emailing the Silver Shore Concierge at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary, honeymoon or other special occasion during your voyage, please ask your travel professional to advise Silversea at least four weeks prior to departure. Notification should be sent to: email@example.com
Download the Bon Voyage Gift Form to send a special gift to a Silversea guest or to your suite.
If you have special dietary requirements, Silversea will make every attempt to accommodate your requests. Please advise Silversea of your needs on the Guest Information Form at least 75 days prior to sailing. Notification should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
Non-denominational services are held aboard ship on Sundays. Catholic, Protestant and/or Jewish clergy will be onboard during select holidays, when possible.
Rest Assured Programme
True peace of mind. If, for any reason, you have to cancel your cruise vacation within 120 to 1 days prior to departure, Silversea’s Rest Assured Programme™ provides a 100% Cruise Credit on any and all charges paid including air, pre- and/or post-cruise hotel and land programmes (less any penalties incurred by Silversea such as airline, hotel or tour operator cancellation fees), which may be applied toward a future Silversea cruise. Additional restrictions may apply.
If you cancel your cruise for any reason, instead of losing 100% of the total charges paid for your vacation, you will receive a 100% Rest Assured Cruise Credit (the “Cruise Credit”).
The fee for Rest Assured is 4% of each guest’s Total Holiday Cost when purchased with travel insurance that includes trip cancellation benefits. Proof of travel insurance coverage must be provided at the time of your Rest Assured purchase. If you purchase Rest Assured without travel insurance, the fee is 9% of each guest’s Total Holiday Cost. The Total Holiday Cost includes the cruise fare and any Silversea optional travel programme(s) (including air, pre- and/or post-cruise hotel and land programmes and transfers).
Silversea’s Optional Rest Assured Programme (the “Rest Assured Programme”) is subject to the following terms and conditions.
Term & Conditions
Please note: The Rest Assured Programme is separate from Silversea GuestCare which is designed and administered by BerkelyCareSM. Silversea GuestCare is an optional travel protection programme that includes benefits for trip cancellation and interruption, trip delay, accident and sickness medical expenses, emergency medical evacuation, baggage and personal effects, baggage delay, and traveller’s assistance. Certain terms, conditions and exclusions apply – please review the Silversea GuestCare Description of Coverage pamphlet.
Looking forward to a holiday with Silversea should be like every other part of your vacation — filled with excitement, anticipation and peace of mind knowing that Silversea takes care of every detail. Still, there’s always the unforeseen before you sail. That is why we are delighted to offer you Silversea’s Rest Assured Programme to make it even easier to relax and do nothing but look forward to a wonderful vacation — even during that critical 120-day period before embarkation!
If, for any reason, you have to cancel within 120 to 1 day prior to departure, Rest Assured provides a 100% Cruise Credit on any and all charges paid (including air, pre- and/or post-cruise hotel and land programmes), which may be applied toward a future Silversea cruise.
It’s affordable, too — just 9% of your total holiday cost. Then if you need to cancel at the last minute (1 – 120 days prior to departure but at least 24 hours prior to departure), you’ll receive 100% credit for your total holiday cost including air, pre- and/or post-cruise hotel and land programmes, if applicable. (Minus, of course, the fee for Rest Assured.)
You can apply your credit toward any Silversea cruise departing during the following 12 months. But you can only use your credit for the cruise-only portion of your voyage. It cannot be applied towards port charges, government fees and taxes, or the purchase of air upgrades, land programmes, transfers and Silversea GuestCare.

Availability of all suite categories cannot be guaranteed. Fares for single guests are available upon request. Additional restrictions may apply.
Silversea’s Fare Guarantee Programme applies only to guests booking Silver Privilege Fares on or after November 1st, 2012 for all voyages commencing on or after June 1st, 2013. Guests will be eligible for reimbursement if the Silver Privilege Fare for their particular voyage and suite category is reduced after they have made a booking and deposit with Silversea and Silversea has received their written request for a fare adjustment prior to their sailing date. Requests for reimbursement received on or after the sailing date will be denied. Reimbursement provided under this guarantee will be in the form of a shipboard credit, suite upgrade, future cruise credit, fare reduction or other method. Silversea reserves the sole right to determine the method of reimbursement made to guests. The amount of reimbursement the guests receive will be determined by the difference between the Silver Privilege Fare actually paid by the guest and the Silver Privilege Fare displayed on Silversea.com the day the request is received is by Silversea.
At Silversea, the comfort, enjoyment, and safety of all guests is paramount. Most areas on board are non-smoking, and, as a safety precaution, smoking is not permitted in guests suites or guest suite verandas or balconies. However, cigarette, cigar, electronic cigarette and pipe smoking is permitted in the Connoisseur’s Corner and in specifically designated areas. These areas include designated tables outside of the Panorama Lounge and the Pool Bar, as well as on open Decks 9 and 10 aboard Silver Spirit, Silver Whisper and Silver Shadow; on open Deck 9 aboard Silver Cloud and Silver Wind; in specifically-designated outside areas on Decks 5 and 6 aboard Silver Explorer; in a designated outside area on Deck 4 aboard Silver Galapagos; and in the designated smoking area on Deck 6 on Silver Discoverer.
All travel documents (air and cruise tickets, passport, medical card, inoculation verification) are the guest’s responsibility. It is also the guest’s responsibility to obtain any necessary visas and public health documents for all applicable ports and to comply with all customs requirements. Without the required documents, a guest may be denied boarding and accommodation by Silversea, or the guest may be disembarked during the cruise and Silversea will not make a refund or be otherwise liable to any guest for such denial of boarding or disembarkation. In the event that Silversea, as a courtesy, provides information or advice as to necessary travel documents, visas and medical inoculations, guests are still obligated to verify such information with the appropriate government authorities and Silversea does not warrant or guarantee the accuracy of such information. Some countries require passports to be valid six months beyond intended stay. Please check with the appropriate consulate for specific requirements. For cruises that include Canadian ports, please contact your local Canadian Consulate for Canadian travel requirements.
Security measures imposed by governments may change from time to time and each guest will be required to comply with them. As a courtesy, Silversea will endeavour to provide each guest with notice of measures that may affect them, but complying with any such requirements is the sole responsibility of each guest. Please consult your travel professional for advice on such requirements to avoid loss of boarding privileges.
GuestCare Travel Insurance
For bookings made in US, Silversea makes available Silversea GuestCare® — an optional travel protection plan designed especially for Silversea guests.
The following information is a summary of GuestCare’s benefits and services and is subject to change. A brochure detailing the coverage terms and conditions, including the pre-existing condition exclusion and other applicable limitations, will be sent with your Pre-Cruise Packet prior to sailing. Each of the benefits is subject to the limits listed on the Schedule of Coverage as shown and is subject to change.

Should you need to cancel or interrupt your cruise for covered reasons (such as an unforeseen medical condition affecting you, your travelling companion, or an immediate family member), you would be reimbursed for covered cancellation penalties and/or the value of the unused portion of your trip and other covered expenses, up to your full cruise vacation cost.
Should you miss the departure of your cruise due to weather-related flight cancellations, equipment failure of an aircraft, or other covered reasons, you would be reimbursed for reasonable additional expenses for accommodations, meals and one-way economy transportation.
If your baggage or its contents were to be lost, stolen or damaged, you would be reimbursed for the cost of repair or replacement.
If your checked baggage were delayed for over 24 hours, the plan would reimburse you for your purchase of essential items.
GuestCare also provides a Travellers’ Assistance Hotline offering 24-hour-a-day, worldwide access to a broad range of services.
Should you experience a covered sickness or injury during your cruise vacation, you would be reimbursed for your covered medical expenses. In addition, GuestCare would also arrange for, and pay the cost of, emergency air or ground ambulance transportation in the event of a medical emergency. These are especially valuable benefits because Medicare and many private insurance policies generally do not cover medical expenses incurred overseas.
Many travel insurance plans do not provide coverage to travellers who must cancel or interrupt their trip as the result of a medical condition that existed at the time the plan is purchased. Unlike those plans, Silversea has arranged for the Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion to be waived from the GuestCare plan, if the plan cost is paid no later than your final trip payment.
The cost of this important protection will be conveniently added to your cruise invoice unless declined at time of booking or final payment. To receive this valuable protection, simply remit the amount indicated to your travel agent along with your cruise payment. The plan cost must be paid in order for the plan to be effective. For more information and applicable plan costs, please consult your travel professional or refer to the pamphlet in your Pre-Cruise Packet.
