The science of salt is fascinating. It’s far more than just a seasoning. Salt adds flavour – essential flavour – to our food. It can intensify aromas, balance tastes, make meat taste juicier, rids vegetables of their excess water and preserve food for months or even years. So it was unsurprising that this little rock with the big taste was our inspiration behind our newest immersive culinary program. Available on Silver Moon and Silver Dawn S.A.L.T. will intensify your voyage, flavour your journey, balance your cruise, and preserve your holiday memories for month, and yes, hopefully years.

A NEW DEFINITION OF TRAVELLING WITH TASTE

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE SILVERSEA S.A.L.T. PROGRAM?

S.A.L.T. is simple. It stands for Sea And Land Taste and is the opportunity for all travellers on our new ship Silver Moon – and soon Silver Dawn – to experience the very lifeblood of their destination. Conceived by Adam Sachs, former Editor in Chief of Saveur Magazine, S.A.L.T. gives Silversea guests a chance to travel deeper through engaging experiences and local food culture. And if it’s good enough for Adam, it’s good enough for us! The three-time James Beard Journalism Award winning food, lifestyle and travel writer really knows his food! Balancing on shore experiences, with expert knowledge with on board hands on activities with food culture with taste sensations that will blow your mind, S.A.L.T. is far, far more than just a concept.

S.A.L.T. SHORE EXCURSIONS

Selected shore excursions on all Silver Moon cruises benefit from a culinary focus. This means you could be travelling into the hinterland of Heraklion in order to experience the heart and soul of Greek organic cooking. Or delving into the secrets of an working organic farm in the hills of Paros. Or meeting with a native Ecuadorian chef at the fashionable street food market in Guayaquil. Or lunching with a vineyard owner in Sicily, and enjoy their home grown wines during a lavish lunch with a view of Mount Etna. These in-depth and informative shore excursions are accompanied by our food experts, who are adapt at explaining the intricacies of foreign cuisine. S.A.L.T. offers the curious cruiser so many options, the only thing you need to do is choose. Never has a cruise line offered such an in-depth, holistic way of visiting their destination. Do one or do them all.

S.A.L.T. ONBOARD DINING

The idea behind S.A.L.T. is that it offers all guests aboard a chance to travel with taste. Take a trip to the S.A.L.T. Bar and Kitchen to taste a plethora of international food dishes, inspired by your destination. Local recipes made with local products are given a Silversea stylish twist. The S.A.L.T. Kitchen (in place of Indochine on sister ship Silver Muse) is our dedicated dining venue and will take your tastebuds on a journey through the Greek Isles, the South American plains, the colourful coasts of the Caribbean, or the food heritage of Atlantic Europe. But S.A.L.T. doesn’t just begin and end on your plate – visit the S.A.L.T. Bar, located next to the Kitchen on deck 4, for regionally inspired cocktails, made with locally produced quality spirits by enthusiastic and knowledgeable bar staff. These master mixologists are far more than the average barman. These are people who want you to understand how to savour a cocktail, how to let a local whiskey rest on your palette before swallowing it, how the botanicals in a locally made gin infuse and affect the taste.

S.A.L.T. ONBOARD EXPERIENCES

S.A.L.T. stretches further than just your taste buds. Silver Moon’s S.A.L.T. Lab is an interactive cooking laboratory that allows guests to get hands on experience of local recipes in a professional kitchen. Small groups of guests are invited to take part in shared cooking sessions where they will not only learn how to cook the recipe, but will also understand the food heritage of each ingredient. And yet still S.A.L.T. goes even further! Lectures and live cooking demonstrations take place regularly in the Venetian Lounge, allowing larger groups of guests to see how deep the connection between food and destination really is.

SILVER MOON

The S.A.L.T. gastronomic experience is currently only available on Silver Moon. As Silversea Cruises newest flagship, Silver Moon seemed the only logical choice to debut the immersive culinary focus that goes far beyond your plate. Silver Moon is internationally recognised as being one of the most beautiful ships to sail the sea. At 40,700 gross tons and with a capacity to accommodate 596 passengers on board, Silver Moon maintains the small-ship intimacy and spacious all-suite accommodation that are the hallmarks of the Silversea experience. Silver Moon is the continuation of Silversea’s new era – all-suite and all-inclusive, she is the epitome of our all-exclusive cruises. SILVER DAWN

Silver Dawn will launch in Spring 2022. She will be our second ship to feature S.A.L.T. and promises to offer as much to her guests as Silver Moon does to hers. Silver Dawn will feature the same in depth culinary knowledge, and promises a deep destination experience that cannot be rivalled by any other cruise line. As the tenth ship to join our fleet, Silver Dawn will surpass all preconceptions of ultra-luxury. Both classic yet modern, Silver Dawn is the natural evolution of our fleet. Large enough to offer eight dining options – including the superb Sea and Land Taste (S.A.L.T.) programme and Otium, our brand new wellness programme – yet small enough for the famed Silversea on board ambience, Silver Dawn inherits the best features of her sister ships Silver Muse and Silver Moon, but is in a class all of her own.
