The Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia (UBC) campus in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada is renowned for its displays of world arts and cultures, in particular works by First Nation band governments of the Pacific Northwest. As well as being a major tourist destination, MOA is a research and teaching museum, where UBC courses in art, anthropology, archaeology, conservation, and museum studies are given. MOA houses 38,000 ethnographic objects, as well as 535,000 archaeological objects in its building alone.

Pacific Whale Watching Tour

From Coal Harbour in downtown Vancouver, you will board a fully enclosed and weather protected vessel. The vessel is equipped with comfortable aircraft reclining seats and onboard washrooms. There is also offer plenty of outdoor deck space!

On this epic adventure navigate Howe Sound Waters and the Georgia Straight in Vancouver to observe whales in their natural habitat. The three species commonly seen in these water are the southern resident killer whales who feed off salmon which spawn here in the summer, transient killer whales who migrate up and down the coast in search of food, and the Humpback Whales who travel here in the summer to early fall and feed off the small fish in the Harbour. Humpback whales can range in size up to 55 feet and weigh up to 40 tons. All whales are intelligent and have individual personalities. Some are curious and may approach the vessel to look us over, while others are shy and will keep away. This tour is filled with lots of adventure!

The crew will be able to identify the groups and sometimes individual whales for reference. They will point out a variety of wild life spotted along the tour such as: Harbour seals, sea lions, sea birds, and eagles. Stanley Park & Scenic Grouse Mountain

Robson Street, Vancouver's most famous shopping street is set in the heart of downtown. It is a three-block commercial mecca including premier fashion stores, fine dining and amenities.


Vancouver's Chinatown is the third-largest of its kind in North America, and home to more than 30,000 people of Chinese descent. Authentic architecture, exotic cuisine, and colourful specialty shops make each turn down the narrow alleyways a unique adventure.


Drive through Gastown, the original site from which modern Vancouver evolved. The varied shops and boutiques make the area a popular shopping district. The famous steam clock fills the air with music every 15 minutes.


Stanley Park is a lush rainforest in the heart of the city. This 1,000-acre park teems with wildlife and natural beauty. The park was created in 1889 and named after the Governor General of Canada (who was also responsible for the Stanley Cup Hockey Tournament). Stanley Park houses a zoo, aquarium, rose garden, cricket fields, and an open-air theatre. The thousand-acre park is bound by a three-mile (4.8-kilometre) seawall, which also serves as a bike path.


Granville Island, once an industrial area, is now home to craft studios, artist galleries, theatres, a brewery, and a public market featuring street performers. Many of the buildings have retained their original timber beams and tin roofs.

This morning you are transferred to the Rocky Mountaineer Rail Depot to begin your journey. Enjoy breakfast aboard the train.


Your journey today takes you through the scenic Fraser Valley and over the dramatic Fraser Canyon. At Hell's Gate you see one of the most spectacular scenes along the entire route as thousands of gallons of rushing water are forced through one of the canyon's narrowest points. Continue alongside the Thompson River as you make your way toward Kamloops, British Columbia.


At the end of the day, arrive in Kamloops, British Columbia and transfer to your hotel for check-in. Breakfast and lunch are served on the train. Dinner is at your own expense.

DAY 5 - KAMLOOPS / BANFF

Rise and shine early today to re-board the Rocky Mountaineer and continue eastward to the Canadian Rockies. Breakfast is served on the train.


You travel through vast ranchlands to Shuswap Lake Pass Craigellachie where the "last spike" was driven completing the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1885. Beyond Craigellachie is Rogers Pass with its tunnels, glistening glaciers, and snowcapped mountains. Thrill as you pass through the Spiral Tunnels in Yoho National Park. Lunch is served on the train as the magnificent scenery continues to parade past.


Arrive in Banff in the early evening and transfer to the historic Fairmont Banff Springs Resort. After lunch on your own, depart for a sightseeing tour of Lake Louise, the 'Jewel of the Canadian Rockies'. Along with Moraine Lake, this area is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival, time is made available to take photos, explore their shorelines, and learn about the area's mountaineering history. Your tour concludes with a stroll to a viewpoint in the Valley of Ten Peaks for splendid views and photo opportunities overlooking Moraine Lake.

Beyond Craigellachie is Rogers Pass with its tunnels, glistening glaciers, and snowcapped mountains. Thrill as you pass through the Spiral Tunnels in Yoho National Park. Lunch is served on the train as the magnificent scenery continues to parade past.
