Explore Santa Claus Village, and the world of reindeer- and husky-farming, during this unforgettable, full-day Arctic excursion.


Kemi, Rovaniemi, Reindeer Farm Tour, Reindeer-Feeding, Arctic Circle Crossing Ceremony

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 1.5-hour drive to Rovaniemi. Upon arrival, proceed for a guided tour of a reindeer farm and learn about the most traditional livelihood in Lapland, reindeer-herding. Reindeer-herding has existed in-and-beyond the Arctic Circle for generations, and is performed with traditional methods and practices to this day. During your tour, explore the farm and have an opportunity to feed the reindeer. Since the reindeer farm is located at the Arctic Circle, enter the Arctic Circle during a special crossing ceremony.


Husky Farm Tour, Forest Walk

Next, re-board your coach and head to a husky farm. Upon arrival, take a guided walking tour of the farm. Along the way, meet, walk with and learn how the Arctic sled dogs live and breed. During the summer months, a lot of energetic and young dogs are present, and taught how to live in a team and interact with humans. Your visit includes a guided stroll in the nearby forest with a musher and the young huskies.


Santa Claus Village, Meeting and Photo-Op with Santa Claus

Your final stop is at Santa Claus Village. Here, meet Santa Claus at his office on the Arctic Circle, where he greets visitors from near-and-afar every day of the year. Upon arrival, enter Santa's chamber through the heavy door and his secret corridor. At the end of the corridor, see the Earth's Rotation Manager, which enables Santa to control time at Christmas by making the earth spin more slowly. Your visit includes a private moment with Santa, and a photo with him taken by the Photo Elf as a memento of your visit. Leaving Santa's chamber, continue on to the Main Post Office


Main Post Office, Postcard, Lunch, Gift Shop

Santa receives letters, cards and wish lists from all over the world, and they all end up at his Main Post Office on the Arctic Circle. Here, you can view some of the letters, observe postal elves hard at work sorting and sending mail, and replying to some of the letters. In addition, receive a stamped postcard to send home. The card features the special Arctic Circle hallmark, like every other letter and package sent from here. You can also select the mailbox for immediate delivery, or delivery at Christmas, Next, proceed for lunch in a traditional 'kota', a tee-pee-shaped hut, resembling an ancient dwelling of the Sámi people. After lunch, some free time is made available to explore the village and browse the gift shop. Following your visit, re-board your coach and commenc the approximately 1.5-hour drive back to the pier.

Rovaniemi, Artikum, Lapland Provincial Museum, Arctic Research Centre, Lunch

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 1.5-hour drive to Rovaniemi. Upon arrival, a visit is made to Arktikum. One of Rovaniemi's most prominent landmarks of, this amazing building symbolizes an icy finger pointing to the north. Arktikum houses both the Lapland Provincial Museum and Arctic Research Centre, which spans all of the Arctic. Following a guided tour of Artikum, proceed for lunch at its restaurant.


Korundi, Concert Hall, Lapland Arts Museum, Northern Lights Workshop, Artwork

After lunch, re-board your coach and head to Korundi. Truly a house of culture, Korundi hosts both the Lapland Arts Museum and Concert Hall of the Lappish Chamber Orchestra. The focus of your visit today is art. Inspired by modern art and very often featuring the northern lights, Korundi has its own art workshop. During your visit to the Northern Lights Workshop, view works of art inspired by the Northern Lights.


Local Home Visit, Handicraft Workshop, Refreshment, Gift

Following your visit, re-board your coach and head to a Handicraft Workshop, which is located in the home of an artisan couple. They make stunning artefacts, jewellery and everyday items of traditional Lappish materials, reindeer antlers, wood, and even leather. The materials are coloured by natural herbs and flowers, a tradition still in practice today. During your visit, observe them creating their unique works, enjoy a cup of coffee served with pie, and receive a small souvenir of your visit to bring home. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 1.5-hour drive back to the pier.

Natural and Cultural Remnants, Inner-Harbour

Abundant natural beauty and cultural remnants of days gone by are yours to explore during this picturesque canoeing tour, which is suitable for beginners and experienced canoers alike. Upon returning to the inner-harbour, disembark your canoe, re-board your coach and commence the short drive back to the pier.

Kemi, St. Michael's Church, Natural Border between Sweden and Finland

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive to Kemi. On the approach to the mighty Kemi River, a guided visit is made to the 16th-century St. Michael's Church, which charms with its mummy of Vicar Rungius. Leaving the church, re-board your coach and continue on through Keminmaa, the natural border between Sweden and Finland.


Tomio, Tornion River, Haparanda

Next, visit Tomio and Haparanda, also known as the 'Twin Cities'. Upon arrival in Tomio, take a guided walking tour. Along the way, marvel at the Tornio River and its rapids, and observe locals fishing in their traditional way. The Tornio River is rich in whitefish and salmon. Whilst touring Tornio and Haparanda, learn about their importance in the history of science. The form of our globe was redefined from a pancake to a ball thanks to Pierre Louis Moreau de Maupertuis. During the 18th century, he lead an expedition in the Tornio River Valley to determine a more exact form of the globe.


Keminmaa, Kukkolankoski, Local Restaurant, Lappish Refreshments

Leaving Tomio and Haparanda, head to the village of Kukkolankoski. Upon arrival, a stop is made at a local restaurant for a Lappish-style sandwich accompanied by coffee/tea. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 40-minute drive back to the pier.

Kemi Forest Safari via ATV

Depart the pier for the short drive to the city centre. Upon arrival, proceed to Safari House. The Safari house at the city center and there the group gets all the safety gears. After that they continue with the coach a short drive to the beginning point of the ATV trails where all the ATVs are waiting for them. After receiving your safety and tour instructions, don your safety clothing and equipment, then begin your guided forest safari. Along the way, follow an incredibly scenic forest trail and take in spectacular panoramic vistas of Finland's abundant natural splendour.


Campfire, Refreshments, Safari House

During your picturesque ATV tour, a stop is made to relax and unwind around an inviting campfire. Enjoy your picturesque surrounds and a cup of coffee with sweet buns, then continue on your ATV journey. At the conclusion of the tour, ride back to the Safari House. Upon arrival, return your ATV and safety equipment, then re-board your coach and commence the short drive back to the pier.

Learn about the history and local lifestyle of Kemi, observe how local fish is prepared in the traditional way, outdoors, by open fire, and even try your hand at fishing. Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 80-minute drive to Rovaniemi, located at the crossing of two great rivers, the Kemi and Ounas. Its picturesque, central location made Rovaniemi a bustling centre of activity among traders, lumberjacks and adventurers in days of old. Today, its lush river delta offers guests a day of fun-filled activities and lovely riverside views.


River Cruise and Jet-Skiing

Upon arrival at Rovaniemi, proceed to the Kemijoen Helmi, an odd-looking river vessel that is your base for today's activities. After receiving your safety and jet-skiing instructions and equipment, don your wetsuit and begin the first of three exhilarating, fun-filled activities. Embrace the thrill of jet-skiing over the waves in the river delta, where you can safely accelerate and let the adrenaline flow.


SUP-Boarding and Raft Polo

Next, you can try SUP-boarding, where you feel like you are walking on water. Begin by kneeling whilst paddling away from the shore, then stand on the light, yet steady board. Depending on your paddling capabilities, you may opt to take an optional visit to the small, sandy beach on the other side of the river. Finally, you are inviting to join in on the splashes and fun during an invigorating game of raft polo. Your gear provides protection but is not 100% waterproof, so bring a change of clothing.


Scenic River Cruise with Lunch

Following your jet-skiing and SUP-boarding activities, change your clothing back on board the Kemijoen Helmi, then proceed for a delightful sightseeing cruise and lovely summer lunch served on board. At the conclusion of your visit, disembark the Kemijoen Helmi, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 70-minute drive back to the pier.
