St. Mark's Square and the Monastery of Anafonitria
Next, proceed to historic St. Mark's Square, where the popolari burned the Libra d'Oro, or 'Book of Nobility', in 1797. Leaving St. Mark Square, re-board your coach for the drive north to the Monastery of Anafonitria. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, this 14th-century monastery is the oldest church on the island. During your visit, view superb 15th-century frescoes that were unearthed during recent renovations.
Volimes and Bohali
Afterward, drive to Volimes, a small, traditional mountain village famous for its handicrafts that are displayed along the roadside. Some free time is made available here to browse for souvenirs before continuing on to Bohali.
