Exclusive Seal Watching Cruise

Get an up-close look at Australia's largest fur seal colony during your eco-cruise that glides within feet of thousands of seals frolicking in the water and sunning themselves on the rocks.

Summerland Peninsula, Phillip Island's Western-Most Point, Australia's Largest Fur Seal Colony

Perched on the southwestern side of the island is the jaw-dropping area known as Summerland Peninsula, a magnificent headland that marks the end of Phillip Island's western-most point and the beginning of the sea's never-ending blue horizon. One of the area's most endearing residents is the Australian fur seal, unlike other fur seals, the Australian is noted for its small ears, large eyes and sharp teeth. An agile swimmer with a streamlined shape and strong flippers, it can dive to depths of 650 feet.

Scenic Cruise

Your adventure begins as you board the vessel at the pier and head out into the waters of Bass Strait, which separates Tasmania from the Australian mainland. Feel the ocean breeze surround you as your captain cruises by the picturesque coastline. Along the way your friendly captain and crew will share their knowledge of the history and ecology of the colony. Be sure to have your camera with you on this wonderful scenic adventure as this is truly a nature and photographers dream. If you're lucky, pods of dolphins will cruise alongside the boat.

Experience the magic of watching Little Penguins waddle home from the ocean to their burrows.

Phillip Island

There are few things cuter than watching hundreds of little blue penguins rise up out of the water, cross the golden sand and return home after a hard day looking for food in Australia's Bass Strait. Phillip Island is home to an estimated 32,000 breeding pairs, the largest colony in Victoria and over 4,000 have burrows around Summerland Beach.

The World's Smallest Penguins

Board your coach at the pier and sit back and relax as you travel around to the island's most southwestern point in anticipation of this wondrous experience. Sometimes called blue, fairy or little penguins the world's smallest penguins measure just 13-inches high and weigh only two to three pounds. Like all penguins they cannot fly, but their paddle-like flippers are excellent for "flying" at speeds of over three miles per hour through the water.

Visitors Centre, Penguin Parade

Upon arrival at Summerland Beach, head straight to the Visitor Centre and learn all about the island's wildlife through a series of interactive and educational displays. Next, guides will escort you down the Penguin Parade boardwalks through the penguin colony to the beach or to the tiered viewing stands. Each evening, these fascinating creatures swim ashore and march up the beach to their burrows in the sand. Witness them in their natural habitat from the boardwalks and viewing platforms, and marvel at one of nature's most intriguing wonders. Park rangers are on hand to assist and explain the interesting life of the world's smallest penguin.

Penguin Parade Private Underground Viewing

Get an eye-level view of the little penguins in the VIP underground viewing experience. Enjoy an up-close look of the little penguins waddling along the parade's most popular pathway through an underground viewing window.

Like all penguins they cannot fly, but their paddle-like flippers are excellent for "flying" at speeds of over three miles per hour through the water. Each day the little penguins leave their burrows about an hour before sunrise and swim up to 62 miles before returning at dusk. Affectionately known as the Penguin Parade, the spectacle of watching these cute creatures waddle across the sand has been entrancing visitors since 1920.

Visitor Centre, Private Underground Viewing

Upon arrival at Summerland Beach, head straight to the Visitor Centre and learn all about the island's wildlife through a series of interactive and educational displays. A special exclusive underground viewing area has been set aside for Silversea guests and park rangers are on hand to assist and explain the interesting life of the world's smallest penguin. Beat the crowds and enjoy up-close viewing of the little penguins waddling along the parade's most popular pathway through the underground windows. Be amazed as hundreds of little penguins waddle up the beach to the safety of their homes in the sand dunes.

At the end of your adventure you'll return to the pier enlightened and charmed by this unforgettable experience.

Phillip Island Coastal Walk

Experience the beautiful nature of Phillip Island on a leisurely hike that features views of Phillip Island's southern coastline.

Berrys Beach, Pyramid Rock, Rugged Coastline, Refreshment

Depart the pier for approximately 30-minute transfer to Berrys Beach. From here follow the coastal cliff-top track to one of Phillip Island's most fascinating natural attractions, the Pyramid Rock. Your walk will take you over boardwalks and gravel pathways with the view of the island's rugged coastline and breathtaking views of the ocean to your right. As you arrive at the Pyramid Rock formation lookout, enjoy a well-deserved glass of bubbles and a selection of cheese and nibbles. Enjoy the view of the triangular outline and striking silhouette of Pyramid Rock, set against the waters of Bass Strait.

At the end of your hike, re-board your coach for the short transfer back to the pier.

Phillip Island by Helicopter

There is just no other way of experiencing the majestic Phillip Island coastal scenery than from the air.

Phillip Island from Above

Board your van for a brief transfer to the heliport and your awaiting machine. Today's flight has been specially designed to ensure participants see the very best of Phillip Island with amazing photo opportunities. Pass Smiths Beach, Surfies Point and Cunningham Bay with spectacular views of the world-famous Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit (home of the Moto GP Australian race every year). See not only the natural beauty but also some manmade marvels such as some of the shipwrecks that line the bay. No visit to the Island would be complete without a visit to the world-famous Little Penguins home, and to see this setup and Seal Rocks from the air is truly beautiful. Please do keep in mind that the penguins are out fishing during the day so you will have to stop by in the evening to come face to face with these, the world's smallest penguins.

With your camera card full and a big smile on your face your flight will come to an end returning to the heliport along some more scenic coastlines before returning for the short transfer back to your awaiting tender boat.
