Next, proceed along the car-free Greenway Bike Path on the exclusive and famous Upper West Side, and take in stunning views of the Hudson River. At the halfway point of your bicycle tour, retrace your route during the approximately 30-minute ride back to the pier.

This tour is recommended for active guests who are in good physical condition, and able to ride a bicycle for long distances at a steady pace. Travel outside of Manhattan's business districts on this relaxed and interesting tour that highlights two well-known New York destinations.

Panoramic Drive, Central Park

Your tour starts with a narrated scenic drive to the Upper West Side, viewing many homes of celebrities including as well as the Lincoln Center. A brief stop is made at the Dakota building, famous for being the place where John Lennon lived and died. From here, follow your guide for a short walk through 'Strawberry Fields' the area of Central Park devoted to him. The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Re-join your coach and continue on to famous 5th Avenue and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's largest and most prestigious museums in the world. The institution's permanent collection spans a wealth of history that includes everything from a transported Egyptian Temple to a large collection of 19th and 20th century European paintings. Here, after receiving Audio Guides and you will have approximately 2.5 hours to explore the museum at your leisure. Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately one-hour drive to Brooklyn. Upon arrival, enjoy a fascinating sightseeing journey through Brooklyn's mosaic of ethnic and well-defined neighbourhoods, where one out of every eight Americans can claim his ancestry. Experience the legacy of the Dutch Colonial period, when these were distinct towns and villages with their own particular character.


Dumbo Area, Brooklyn Heights, Museum of Art, Botanical Garden, Academy of Music, and College

Along the way, a photo stop is made at the Dumbo area, where cobblestone streets and converted Brooklyn warehouse buildings are the backdrop for independent boutiques, high-end restaurants and trendy cafes.

Your drive continues through Cobbie Hill, Carol Gardens and charming Brooklyn Heights; which is nestled in ivy-covered brownstones and tree-lined streets, and was once home to writers such as Norman Mailer, Arthur Miller and Tennessee Williams. Top of the Rock Observation Deck

Next Experience, the Rockefeller Centre and the 70 story TOP OF THE ROCK™ Observation Deck. The view itself is unique and astonishing, unobstructed for 360 degrees and stretching for miles in every direction. It is the most spectacular view in New York City. Back on the ground you will see the famous home of NBC's Today Show and the annual location for New York's spectacular Christmas tree and nostalgic ice-skating rink before returning to the pier.

Stand at the base of 'Lady Liberty' and delve into the history of this iconic statue and visit Ellis Island Museum to catch the spirit of the important role this island played in American history on this 6-hour educational excursion.


Panoramic New York

Depart the pier en-route for Liberty Island, after a brief drive to Battery Park located at the southern tip of Manhattan, you will board the ferry (approximate 20 minute ride) and take in the sites of New York Harbor including beautiful views of the city including Brooklyn and its famous bridge, Staten Island, New Jersey and the Manhattan skyline in the distance.


Liberty Island & the Statue of Liberty

Upon reaching Liberty Island, you will have time to walk around the base of this magnificent statue. There will also be a short time to visit the gift shop and enjoy some of the exterior exhibits. Your guide will provide detailed information about 'Lady Liberty', its completion in 1886 and her unique history. La Liberté éclairant le monde is the colossal neoclassical copper sculpture, a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States and was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and built by Gustave Eiffel. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886.


Ellis Island

Next, re-board the ferry (approximate 15 minute ride) and continue on to Ellis Island, another National Historic Landmark. Ellis Island was the main immigration center for the United States from 1892 until World War II. More than 12 million immigrants were processed at the island, and today over 40% of Americans can trace some part of their ancestry back to Ellis Island. You will have approximately 2 hours to explore the museum on your own.


At the conclusion of the tour take the ferry (approximate 30 minute ride) one last time to Battery Park to re-board the coach for the return drive to the pier.


Please Note: This tour requires an extensive amount of walking and it is not recommended for guests with limited mobility or those who utilise a wheelchair unless they have the assistance of their travelling companion to push the wheelchair. Guests may stay on board the coach when visiting Time Square and may wish to return to the coach at any time during the venue visits. There is approximately 1 hour of slow walking at Liberty Island and 2 hours of slow walking at Ellis Island. Both venues are fully wheelchair accessible but our guides are not insured to push guests in wheelchairs. We recommend guests wear weather appropriate clothing and comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses and water from the ship.

Depart the pier in a private van for the heliport where you will board a helicopter for a flight over Manhattan. See the beauty of Central Park, the Hudson River, the George Washington Bridge and the cliffs of the New Jersey Palisades. You will fly over the harbor and get a distant view of the magnificent Verrazano Bridge, Governors Island, the Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum and its Space Shuttle. Marvel at the splendor of Rockefeller Center, the Empire State, Chrysler, Met Life buildings and the World Financial Center. Delight in flying by the historical richness of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Greenwich Village, South Street Seaport and the 126-year old Brooklyn Bridge.


After landing back at the heliport, your tour will conclude with a transfer back to the pier.


Please note: This involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 1 mile (1.6 kilometres) and is suitable for guests with limited mobility as long as they can embark and disembark the van with minimal assistance, and board the helicopter via a high step. It is not suitable for guests who are wheelchair bound. The maximum weight of each guest must not exceed 275 pounds (125 kilograms). Seating is based on weight distribution and is assigned at the pilot's discretion. For security purposes, no bags are allowed on the flight. Lockers are available at the helicopter. The flight is not exclusive to Silversea Guests. Total flight time is 20 minutes.
