The village is considered the geographic center of the Douro Demarcated Region and it is here that many of the producing estates of Port wine are located. Once there, you'll embark on a traditional Rabelo boat for a 1-hour cruise. Rabelo is a typical wooden vessel that was used for years to transport Port wine barrels from the Douro to Vila Nova de Gaia. In this cruise, you'll appreciate the Valley from the river perspective, while tasting some Port wine. Upon your arrival to Ferrão, you'll be escorted by Jeep to a winery with a history of over two and a half centuries. You'll do a wine tour with tastings and then experience being an "Enologist for a Day". Try something unique and remarkable, as you monitor the wine making process and create your own wine at the same time. Tonight you'll enjoy a dinner from Chef Rui Paula at DOC restaurant.
Day 3 - This morning you will board the Vintage Train, a completely redesigned and restored 1940´s train. Along with the most breathtaking views, your ride will also provide a unique food experience as a 4-course gourmet menu with wine pairing will be served aboard. Arrive in Porto, the capital and gateway to the north of Portugal. It presents an amazing geographical location that dances with the river Douro. Depart on your tour to the Fundação de Serralves, one of the highlights of Portugal for art lovers. Located on the outskirts of the city, the foundation's museum exhibits works by contemporary artists, including Richard Serra, Ed Ruscha, and Gerhard Richter. Pritzker-winning Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza designed the museum. Dinner at the 1 Michelin Star restaurant Antiqvvm where you will enjoy a Degustation Menu with wine pairing.
Day 4 - This morning depart for a tour of Porto. You will visit Sé do Porto (Porto's Cathedral), the largest religious building in the city, that is both a historical and architectural landmark. Head down towards the river to explore the city's old quarter. UNESCO recognized this area as a World Heritage Site, calling it "a masterpiece of mankind's creative genius." Here you can visit the city's churches and monuments, situated on the banks of the Douro River. You will have a private visit to Taylor´s Port wine cellars with private tasting of the famous Port.
