Effortlessly cool and down to earth, Copenhagen is a contemporary, clean and classy highlight of Scandinavia. A city built to be liveable, Copenhagen has refused to compromise, resulting in a forward-thinking metropolis that’s green and clean. Swim in the waters of Havnebadet Islands during summer, or shelter from winter’s bite by snuggling in beside a roaring open fire during winter. You can even hop on a train to Sweden, traversing the famous span of a Nordic Noir star - the Öresund Bridge. View more

It takes just a touch over half an hour to step off the train in Malmö. There’s only one way to truly explore Copenhagen and that’s on two wheels. Easy bike hire schemes will get you moving across this flat city, designed with bikes at the forefront of the mind. Choose a model with electronic assistance to take the strain out of any journey, giving you the freedom to whizz around and explore the modern angular architecture of the centre, and the pastoral colours of Nyhavn waterfront. Head out to the Little Mermaid statue, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale - the strikingly-restrained statue is the perfect landmark for Copenhagen; unshowy, self-assured and utterly irresistible. The Danish concept of hygge is very much alive here, and you’ll feel that warm cosy feeling as you visit cafes illuminated by the warm glow of hanging filament bulbs, and stuffed to the brim with thick, dusty books. Home to mega-brewer Carlsberg, Copenhagen is also a city for hop enthusiasts, and there is a thriving craft brewing scene to sample. Danish Smørrebrød sandwiches are a must try, or for something a little more substantial, settle in for a culinary voyage and try a taster menu – the city’s restaurants are littered with Michelin stars.

Make the most of your time and explore two countries in one day: Denmark and Sweden. Discover the city of Lund and its cathedral, take a stroll in the medieval city centre of Malmö and let yourself amaze by the famous Copenhagen landmarks.

Øresund Bridge

On the 1st of July 2000 a bridge was inaugurated, but it was not just any bridge. It was the Øresund Bridge, linking the two nations Denmark and Sweden together. Two former "enemies" are now one. Two people and two cultures formed the new area of Øresund Region. Over the later years the Øresund Bridge has also played a major role in and given title to the Danish-Swedish TV-production "The Bridge", that you might know from TV.

Lund

Pass by Malmö and drive through the flat farmland up to Lund - a town with long historical traditions. Once (when under the Danish flag) Lund was the home of the bishop of Scania. It is now a town with a large university and many international students come to study here. Visit the imposing cathedral and watch the advanced astronomic clock on the wall (the cathedral is closed during services).

Malmö

Drive south to the city of Malmö; the third largest city of Sweden with 300.000 inhabitants. In the medieval city centre, you will stroll through the history of Sweden, admiring the charming old 17th century houses and crossing small squares and cobblestone streets. You will have time for a little shopping or stroll on your own.

On this guided tour, you will see the ornate Amalienborg Palace, home to the reigning Queen Margrethe. You will also see the characteristic National Opera house on water, and soak in the beauty of Nyhavn where colorful canal houses and old sailboats are lined up along the water strip. Escorted by your tour guide, you will also explore the beautiful old traditional plaza, Kongen's Nytorv, and enjoy a stroll down one of the longest pedestrianized shopping streets in Europe, Stroeget.

Gefion Fountain, Amalienborg Palace, Nyhavn, King's Square, Royal Theatre, Old Fish Market

Here, see King's Square, where the Royal Theatre, embassies and many fashionable shops are located, along with the Old Stock Exchange and Gammel Strand. In addition, view the old fish market warehouses dating back to medieval times.

The next photo stop will be at Amalienborg, the royal winter residence. It is now a most charming part of Copenhagen, with brightly coloured houses along the canal. Pass the old Stock Exchange - a building in Dutch renaissance style, with its spire of entwined dragon tails. Further on, pass the Christiansborg Palace, home of the Danish Parliament and the Queen's Reception rooms, and pass the GL Strand.

Rosenborg Castle

Rosenborg Castle, probably the quaintest and most fairy tale-like of all the Copenhagen castles, with its tall towers and its red masonry with sandstone ornaments, as a distinguished example of Christian IV's many building projects, perfect despite many changes during its construction history. The Castle is built in the special Dutch Renaissance style which became typical of Danish buildings during this period.

Explore the castle on a guided tour, including the collection of crown jewels and other Royal regalia. The interiors are well-preserved and invite you to take a journey in time.

Victorian Copenhagen

Experience a taste of late-19th century Victorian Copenhagen during this scenic and informative, half-day sightseeing excursion through its historical streets.

Copenhagen City, Watchman's Passage, Church of the Holy Ghost, Graabroedre Torv Monastery

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive into Copenhagen City. Upon arrival, proceed for a guided stroll through the small medieval streets and narrow walkways in historical central Copenhagen. Whilst proceeding through the Watchman's Passage, see the Church of the Holy Ghost right in front of you. This church was originally built as a monastery, but later served as a regular church. From here, walk over to the nearby Graabroedre Torv Monastery, which was torn down in 1530, but the name still remains.

Old Copenhagen University, Church of the Lady, Old and New Squares, Stroeget, City Court

Continue past the Old Copenhagen University, which is located opposite the Church of Our Lady - Cathedral of Copenhagen. During an inside visit, see the simple decoration and sculptures created by the famous Danish artist, Thorvaldsen. Leaving the church, pass by the Nytorv (New Square) and Gammel Torv (Old Square). Lined with outdoor cafes and decorated with a beautiful fountain, this beautiful square in central Copenhagen is connected to the main shopping street of Copenhagen, Stroeget. See the City Court of Copenhagen on the western side of the square, then proceed on-foot through the narrow, cobbled streets of Copenhagen.

Victorian Apartment, City Hall, Rosenborg Castle

Next, head to the approximately 3,552-square-foot (about 330-square-metre) Victorian apartment of Merchant Rudolph Christensen, remaining originally as it was decorated in 1890. During your guided visit, see the richly-decorated drawing rooms, look-and-hear about the parties held in the dining room, walk through the bedrooms and imagine the feasts prepared in the kitchen. Your museum guide escorts and shows you around in this unique apartment, which has never changed, like a small piece of the 1890s that was forgotten and recovered. Your visit here evokes a feeling like the owners just left the apartment only moments ago. At the conclusion of your tour, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 45-minute drive back to the pier, with a panoramic drive past City Hall and the Rosenborg Castle en route.

Wonderful Copenhagen & Tivoli

Explore the oldest and most charming parts of Copenhagen during this fun-filled, half-day sightseeing excursion.

Copenhagen, Little Mermaid Statue

Depart the pier for the short drive to the Little Mermaid. No visit to Copenhagen is complete without seeing the city's most famous symbol. Completed in 1913, this statue was erected to express gratitude to Hans Christian Andersen and his world-renowned fairy tales. After a photo stop at the Little Mermaid, re-board your coach and take a sightseeing drive through the city.

Gefion Fountain, Amalienborg Palace, Nyhavn, King's Square, Royal Theatre, Old Fish Market

Along the way, pass by Copenhagen's famous Gefion Fountain, set amidst the parkland of the Citadel and depicting the Nordic legend of the Goddess Gefion. Continue on to the royal residence, Amalienborg Palace, for an exterior photo stop, then drive through the bustling Nyhavn area. Here, see King's Square, where the Royal Theatre, embassies and many fashionable shops are located, along with the Old Stock Exchange and Gammel Strand. In addition, view the old fish market warehouses dating back to medieval times and Glyptoteket, founded by the Danish Brewer, Carl Jacobsen, the creator of Carlsberg beer. Following your sightseeing drive, head to the final stop on your tour, Tivoli Gardens.

Tivoli Gardens, Rosenborg Castle

Founded in 1843 by Georg Carstensen, Tivoli was inspired by the so-called romantic pleasure gardens of Europe. When Tivoli first opened its gates, it only had a few rides and amusements; today, however, there is a mix of attractions mingled with charming flower and relaxation gardens. One of the most photographed features of Tivoli is the Chinese Pagoda, which dates from 1900 and is situated beautifully by the lake. The fairy-tale writer Hans Christian Andersen was a frequent visitor to Tivoli, and some say that it was here he was inspired to write The Nightingale. Some free time is made available here to enjoy the fun, frivolity and excitement of Tivoli at your leisure. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier, passing by the Rosenborg Castle en route.
