Due to the unique and unpredictable nature of travel in Antarctica, weather conditions may impact our flights to King George Island. In the event of disruptions, your safety and comfort are our top priorities. Here is what to expect and how we will assist you in the event of delays.
- You will arrive in Santiago two days before the start of your Silversea Expedition.
- Hotel check-in is available from 3:00 p.m. local time.
- A Silversea Hospitality Desk is available, either in the hotel lobby or in a designated meeting room within the hotel.
- Full details for the following day — including breakfast arrangements, luggage collection, transfers, and your charter flight information — will be provided in your personalized welcome letter upon arrival.
- The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure.
- After breakfast, depart mid-morning on a private charter flight to Puerto Williams.
- During the 3.5-hour flight, savor a curated selection of Chilean cuisine paired with local wines.
- Upon arrival, the afternoon is yours to enjoy. Select from a selection of experiences or explore The Cormorant at 55 South at your leisure. A complimentary shuttle is available between the hotel and downtown Puerto Williams.
- Your expedition gear — including parka, waterproof trousers, boots, backpack, and water bottle — will be prepared in your suite. Our Gear Exchange team will be on hand should any adjustments be required.
- In preparation for Antarctica, our team will guide you through the required biosecurity process, ensuring the preservation of this pristine environment.
- This evening, join the General Manager for a Welcome Reception, followed by a traditional Chilean asado-style dinner.
- For your convenience, luggage will be collected from outside your suite in preparation for the following day’s flight.
- Your journey to Antarctica begins when conditions align for departure, with a clear weather window opening for your private charter flight to King George Island.
- Throughout your stay, updates will be shared by The Cormorant team, keeping you informed as plans are refined. Exact timings will be confirmed once conditions are optimal.
- The flight is approximately 1.5 hours, during which light refreshments will be served.
- For your flight, you will wear your expedition parka, waterproof trousers, and boots, as your embarkation will continue by Zodiac.
- For comfort and ease, only your provided backpack and essential hand luggage will accompany you onboard the charter flight. Wheeled carry-ons are not permitted in Antarctica.
- Your charter flight will land on King George Island, home to a series of international research stations administered by Chile.
- Upon arrival, the Expedition Team will guide you through each step of the embarkation experience.
- As part of the required environmental protocols, you will step through a disinfecting solution for your boots before proceeding.
- You will then be transferred by vehicle across the island to the shoreline, where a Zodiac will bring you to the ship.
- Your luggage will be delivered directly to your suite by your Butler.
- A Zodiac will transfer you from the ship to the landing beach.
- Upon arrival, the Expedition team will escort you to vehicles that will take you to a designated waiting shelter on the island. Please note that the shelter has limited facilities and refreshments.
- The Expedition team will advise you when it is time for your group to proceed to the aircraft.
- Your return flight from Antarctica will depart when the weather conditions allow for a safe journey back to King George Island. Exact timing will be confirmed in advance.
- The flight is approximately 1.5 hours, with light refreshments served on board.
- Upon arrival in Puerto Williams, the afternoon is yours to enjoy. Choose from a variety of experiences or relax at The Cormorant at your leisure.
- This evening, indulge in a dinner showcasing seasonal Patagonian ingredients prepared to reflect the region’s character.
- After breakfast, depart mid-morning on a return charter flight to Santiago.
- During the 3.5-hour flight, enjoy a curated selection of Chilean cuisine paired with regional wines.
- Upon arrival in Santiago, the Silversea team will assist with your luggage collection and help you to the international terminal for your onward flight home.
