Silversea Luxury Cruises To Phang Nga Bay

Stunning, exotic, and completely unique, Phang Nga Bay holds a collection of hidden gems in the form of diverse wildlife, historic and famous islands, and brilliant crystalline limestone caves. Much of the bay is protected as the Ao Phang Nga National Park due to the area’s natural and archeological significance, including paintings that are over a thousand years old. The limestone caves, or “hongs" are actually collapsed cave systems in the interior of each of the islands that can only be accessed at low tide. View more

Open to the sky and filled with jungle flora and fauna, the hongs conceal a unique eco-system with monkeys, birds (at least 88 species), fish (at least 82 species), and apart from the sound of birdsong, complete quiet. Within the bay is the famous James Bond Island, a tall vertical rock island that was heavily featured in the Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun.

Excursions in Phang Nga Bay

Phang Nga Bay and Koh Panyee by Zodiac

Phang Nga Bay covers an area of 400 square kilometers and is home to more than 100 islands. One in particular was featured in the 1974 James Bond movie, "Man with the Golden Gun," and has been an attraction ever since. Up on tour departure board your zodiac and a local guide will meet you to head to Panee Village, which was built on stilts about 200 years ago at the feet of a giant limestone cliff. Only a very small part of the village rests on solid ground, the rest slowly continues to grow outwards supported on a handmade framework out over the water. Upon arrival we will be welcomed by resident musicians. Following the concert we will have the chance to walk through the village to a local school where we will meet the school children and see a Thai dance show before leaving from the village to explore the mangrove forest by canoe at Hong Island before returning back onboard.

Please note: This tour requires a moderate amount of walking and some steps to climb to see all sites. Guests with limited mobility and those who utilise a wheelchair can remain at the village. Most venues are not wheelchair accessible. Guests must be able to negotiate steps on/off the coach with minimal assistance. Guides may be heavily accented.

Local conditions may be challenging, therefore we urge flexibility and understanding as we visit these unique, and somewhat remote destinations. Guides and transport are the best available in the area but may fall short of your expectations. We thank you for your understanding.
