Having reconverted both vineyards and winery Pizzorno Family Wines truly represent a rich and prosperous land. Today Carlos Pizzorno has the leadership of a family that has believed in that land and through the years worked arduous and passionately for their wines.

The winery is located in Canelón Chico region, close to the Rio de la Plata, 20 km North from Montevideo Port. It keeps the same 1910's architecture due to the advantages it offers to wine conservation. The acquired modern technology perfectly combines with classic and millenary winemaking techniques, ensuring a perfect control of the environmental and hygienic conditions. The wines are carefully nestled in a special and unique atmosphere. French and American oak barrels provide them with particular body and aroma that in addition to stable temperature and humidity conditions result in a range of wines of great quality and personality.

All the vineyards surrounding the winery are cultivated and harvested by hand with 20 hectares, completed reconverted by French stocks of Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir,Malbec, Arinarnoa , Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay using espaldera and lyra system channelling adapted to each variety. They are planted in high lands on calcareous soil, favoring a balanced harvest and providing an excellent class grape production.

After arrival take part of an outdoor activity done by hand in the vineyards. Harvest begins in early February and runs with mid-March. Taste 5 different wines while enjoying a delicious local set-menu lunch.

Coming out of near obscurity, the Argentine wine industry has shown the world's wine professionals and consumers the incredible potential for quality in its high altitude, mountain vineyards. The international press has been gracious with its praise and recognition. In 2009, the respected pages of Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate awarded Argentina no fewer than 200 wines rated above 90 points. While consumers throughout the world have been excited by the reasonable prices of these wines, they have been frustrated by the difficulty finding the rather limited amount of bottles produced. Let us show you these exceptional wineries that are rewriting the history of Argentine wine.

Mendoza has a wide variety of wineries, there are 1.341 active wineries in the province of Mendoza and the cultivated area is one of 226,450 hectares, a mere 3% of the province's total surface area.

The prime winery area in Mendoza, Agrelo is where many of the best-known export oriented Argentine wineries are located. If there is a Napa Valley in Mendoza, this is it. No shopping malls here, only some of the biggest names in Argentine wine.

Benegas Winery: Private Visit and Tasting

This traditional winery belonged to the family of Gladys Alurralde Norton, mother of current owner Federico J. Benegas Lynch. Federico was actually born in the properties main house, where he still lives to this day. Throughout his childhood, he worked every step of the way, helping his father in the winemaking process. Benegas is focused on quality and celebrating its Finca Libertad terroir. They believe in the judicious use of oak, maintaining it as a background component in the wine. Tannins should be balanced and the finish long. Their total production is only 30,000 cases. Michelle Roland says, "Benegas wines have a strong personality which is the result of a very unique terroir for its quality and the combination of French and Argentine traditions. The wines are a reflection of Frederico Benegas Lynch's passion and his constant search for excellence."

Matervinis Winery: Private Visit and Tasting

This new boutique winery is dedicated to experimental soils. Their founders, however, are not new to the winemaking world: Santiago Achaval and Roberto Chipresso former owners, founder and winemakers of acclaimed Achaval Ferrer. Today, through their new project, they aim to the exploration of the oldest geologies of Pre-Cordillera soils and their impact on wine personality and flavors. With a very limited production of wines and concentrating in high quality, these pioneers are already making a revolution in the industry.

Finca Decero Winery: Gourmet lunch at the Winery paired with wines.

Once a bare patch of dirt in the foothills of the Andes, Finca de Cero is now a one-of-a-kind vineyard, where each vine is nurtured by hand and the winemaking is without compromise. Free from restraint and tradition, the creators of the winery developed an 'amano' or 'by hand' approach that is human, sustainable and sensitive to natural differences.
