Spend the day discovering and tasting one of San Juan's most famous products- Bacardi Rum.
Your tour begins with a transfer to the south side of San Juan Harbor, where you will enter the beautifully manicured grounds of the Bacardí Rum Distillery, the world's largest distiller of natural spirits. Upon arrival, you will be escorted to your classroom for a private Rum Mixology Seminar led by your Bacardi Brand Specialist, a Master in Rum. For the next 45 minutes to an hour, the conference speaker will lead your group in the preparation and understanding how each of the signature cocktails is created - typically Bacardi Cuba Libre, Bacardi Mojito and a Bacardi Flavors Drink are presented and prepared, though this is subject to change. Each participant will be standing and acting as bartender and at the end will receive a Bacardi University Rum Mixology Certificate.
Following the seminar, you will continue to the interior patio of the Bacardi Visitor's Center. After passing through a large room containing a fountain and three large prints with historical representations, you will enter the theater and view a short film covering the Bacardí Family history as well as that of the Bacardí Corporation. You will then enter a replica of an old distillery that houses an excellent display; here your guide will provide commentary and answer questions. And you will have the opportunity to smell that final product; you will enjoy the aroma of the different type of rums that are bottled at Bacardí.
Your tour will continue to the Bacardí cocktail lounge, which resembles a 1920's bar in Cuba (the era of the prohibition). A bartender will explain and show you how to prepare the first three cocktails ever made with Bacardí: "Cuba Libre", "Daiquiri" and "Mojito Cubano", and you'll learn what inspired Bacardí in the preparation of these three cocktails as well as how they got their names.
As you exit, you will board an open-air tram who will take you to the open-air pavilion, where you will be treated to complimentary rum drinks. Adjacent to the pavilion is the Casa Bacardí gift shop where one can purchase Bacardí Rum as well as many other Bacardí products.
Please note: This tour involves a minimal amount of activity, and is suitable for those with limited mobility and those who utilise a wheelchair. This tour is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18. Guests may be required to show identification. Enjoy the scenery as you drive through one of the most beautiful old cities in the New World with a short visit to Fort San Cristobal and additional time to explore the city on own before you return home.
New San Juan
See modern San Juan as you drive in air-conditioned comfort through the areas of Isla Verde, Condado, past Fort San Gerónimo and on into Old San Juan, a beautiful city and filming location for big-budget movies starring such luminaries as Will Smith, George Clooney, Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman.
Fort San Cristobal
Your first stop is for a short visit to Fort San Cristobal, a mainstay of the San Juan fortification system, from which the Spanish successfully defended their city from British and Dutch attacks as well as frequent assaults from various and sundry pirates. Be sure to watch their historical video on the area. In addition, search out the dungeon where there are centuries old graffiti representing images of Spanish galleons drawn on the walls.
Old San Juan
As you continue your drive through the old city, you'll see the beautiful 17th-century Spanish ironwork on the restored homes and note the blue-black glazed cobblestones that were brought to San Juan as ballast for the Spanish galleons, and were used to surface the narrow streets of the Old City.
In addition, armed with our Map of Old San Juan, you have time to explore some of the many interesting shops, boutiques and art galleries that have made this historic area their home. Following your free time, re-join your coach for the drive to the airport.
Please note: This tour involves moderate walking over cobblestone and uneven surfaces. We suggest guests wear lightweight, comfortable clothing, flat, walking shoes and sun protection. This tour is suitable for guests with flights departing San Juan after 2:00 p.m.
Explore the highlights along cobblestone streets and gain a fascinating guided look at the history of Old San Juan during this walking tour of the old city.
Fort San Cristobal
Upon disembarkation, meet your experienced guide who will lead you through the historical Old City including a visit to Fort San Cristobal, a fortification that successfully defended the old city from attack by the British and Dutch in centuries gone by.
Next, walk into the City through one of the side streets and commence on a stroll through history. Getting just off the beaten track offers some fascinating finds that eludes most visitors that never leave the main streets.
Plaza San Jose
Walk uphill through the cobblestone streets until you reach the Plaza San Jose, with its statue of Juan Ponce de Leon that was made from melted down British cannons. The next stop, the Quincentennial Plaza, is a celebration of the discovery of Puerto Rico.
Casa Blanca
Continue to Casa Blanca, the first fortification ever built in old San Juan and the Ponce de Leon family home. Here you explore the almost Romanesque gardens and fountains.
La Plazoleta de la Rogativa
Exit the gardens of Casa Blanca through a partially hidden access to Calle Sol. After making the tight descending turn downwards, you suddenly find yourself in the most beautiful section of the entire old city - the Plaza of the Procession. Dominating this little park area is a statue commemorating the miraculous saving of the old city from sacking by the British in the 16th century.
This vantage point offers views of the Governor's Mansion, the El Cañuelo fortress across the port entrance and the Bacardi distillery. A short walk down hill through San Juan Gate takes you to the water's edge. As you return through the San Juan gate continue to San Juan Cathedral, retracing the steps of the original conquistadores. Your guide will walk you to the corner of Cristo & Fortaleza Streets; at this point you decide if you wish to have the guide escort you back to the ship or if you wish to stay to explore the many boutiques and shops that line the cobblestone streets of the old city and return to the ship at your leisure.
Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking, lasting approximately 3 hours, over uneven surfaces and steep inclines and is thus recommended for guests in good physical condition. It is not suitable for guests with heart or respiratory conditions, leg, knee, neck, back problems, or limited mobility, or those who utilise a wheelchair. The order of sites visited may vary. Upon arrival, you are greeted by the Chef who will welcome you with a fresh Mojito followed by a tasty appetizer. Then the chef will provide you with the necessary ingredients and instructions to mix and shape your own Mofongo lunch.
Discover the magic of 'cocina criolla,' the main culinary style of Puerto Rico, by learning how to create a local favourite: Mofongo. It is a delightful mash of fried green plantains and chicken broth into which chicken is added. Each participant will learn about and have a hand in the final steps of the preparation of this local Puerto Rican dish. After helping preparing your meal, join your fellow guests at the table to enjoy your lunch. This is the perfect ending to your historical and cultural experience in Old San Juan.

Get ready for an experience like no other; you are about to fly on this exciting adventure.
The Original Canopy Tour operates in La Marquesa Forestry Reserve, which is owned by the Municipality of Guaynabo. This 890-acre (360-hectare) property is located about 20 minutes southwest of San Juan.
The company that operates this tour has 15 years of experience and operates in 5 different locations. Safety is number one and their guides receive 200 hours of training prior to commencing work with the public. The tour consists of 8 traverses and 10 platforms that allow the guests to swing from tree to tree on a safe double line system that is so easy to learn that a 15-minute explanation is enough to get anybody started.
Upon arrival, you have a twenty minute period to sign the waiver, use the restrooms and get geared up. Gear consists of a harness, a set of gloves and a helmet, plus a variety of buckles and straps that the guides attach to the harness.
Then the adventure begins when you board a trolley or funicular to advance you to the commencing area. Walk up a short but steep hill to embark on a narrow, graveled trail that slowly leads you uphill. After approximately ten minutes, arrive at the first platform, a nice wooden deck that accommodates groups of up to 10 for a detailed demonstration of the procedures. After listening to a brief explanation of the system, key instructions and positions, the guide will ask for the first brave volunteer to step up and away into the forest.
Glide from platform to platform enjoying a bird's eye view of the forest while at the same time enjoying the rush of gliding, falling, and flying, through the trees. A lush tropical landscape is the backdrop for this activity as you soar through the treetops. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that definitely allows you to enjoy Puerto Rico from a different perspective.
Upon completion of the canopy course, return to base and re-join your transfer for the return ride to the ship's pier.
Please note: This tour involves moderate to extensive activity and is for guests in good physical condition. Guests must be able to hike on a natural trail for 15 minutes and have the ability to climb stairs. Guests who suffer from acrophobia or vertigo should not plan on participating in this tour. The minimum age for participants is 12 with a maximum weight for any participants of 270 pounds (122 kilograms). All participants must complete a waiver prior to participating. We suggest wearing shorts or long pants, sun protection and bring a hip-sack or backpack to keep your personal items as your hands must remain free during the zip.
Explore the El Yunque Rainforest, a contender for the new Seven Wonders of Nature.
The El Yunque Rainforest, covering 28,000 acres (11,200 hectares), contains 75% of the virgin forests left in Puerto Rico. The entire area is a bird sanctuary and holds claim to being the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System. Thanks to receiving 100 billion gallons of rain per year, the forest is able to sustain some 250 species of trees, 50 types of ferns and as many as 20 varieties of wild orchids. In addition to the flora and fauna, El Yunque is also home to an array of Puerto Rican wildlife.
El Portal
Your rainforest visit includes a stop at El Portal, the modern and airy visitor's centre constructed to blend into the natural surroundings. Inside, the exhibit space is devoted to explaining the importance of tropical forests.
Hiking Trail
Continue with photo stops at La Coca Falls and the Yokahu Lookout Tower, then explore the rainforest in depth on a nature hike accompanied by your driver/guide. Beginning at the Palo Colorado Information Centre, the trail passes the Baño Grande, a large man-made pool, then enters the Palo Colorado forest, one of four forest types in El Yunque Rainforest. Stop to see an example of the work that the Forest Service has done to help conserve the Puerto Rican Parrot, cross a picturesque stream, and exit the trail at another Information Centre.
After this invigorating walk, board your transport for the return journey to the ship.
Please note: Tour involves a moderate amount of walking. There is walking over pathways at some of the stops and 96 stairs at the observation tower, although this climb is optional. We recommend wearing flat, comfortable walking shoes and bringing an umbrella and/or light raincoat. The drive to El Yunque is approximately 1 hour each way. The order sites are visited may vary. The railway now provides a fascinating way to see the island from the comfort of double-deck railcars built specifically for touring the island of St. Kitts. The upper level features a spacious open-air observation deck with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The lower level provides air-conditioned comfort with expansive six-foot vaulted windows. Island ambiance is evoked with comfortable rattan furniture, complimentary specialty drinks, island music sung by the Scenic Railway Choir, and a colorful narrative history of the Caribbean.
On this memorable journey, the railway hugs the Northeastern coastline where rippling fields of sugarcane stretch from the shoreline up to the mountains. The high volcanic peaks rise nearly 4,000 feet above sea level, coated with lush green rainforests. The train rolls across tall steel bridges spanning deep 'ghuts', or canyons, and winds through small villages and farms. Your railway tour narrator will point out abandoned sugar estates with overgrown chimneys and windmills, and provide insight into the island's unique history. The duration of the train ride is approximately 1.5 hour.
Scenic Drive
Your experience is complimented by a scenic drive on board the Scenic Railway's sightseeing buses along the Southwestern coast. Enjoy excellent vistas of Brimstone Hill Fortress, the British 'Gibraltar of the West Indies', Middle Island where Thomas Jefferson's great-grandfather is buried, and the neighboring island of Nevis, birthplace of American statesman Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the U.S. Treasury.
Please note: This tour involves minimal walking and is recommended for guests with limited mobility and guests utilising a wheelchair. Wheelchair guests must be able to embark and disembark the coach (2 steps) and the train (3 steps). The order of train and bus tour portions of the program may be reversed.

British Virgin Islands
mercredi 27 févr.
Tortola's smaller sister island, Virgin Gorda, boasts the British Virgin Islands' main attraction - the Baths. Board the boat at Road Harbour pier for your cruise along Sir Francis Drake Channel toward Virgin Gorda. The famous waterway has seen scores of pirates and buccaneers who once plied their profitable trade here.
Virgin Gorda
Landing at quaint Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda's main settlement, an open safari bus awaits for the short drive to the top of the Baths at Spring Bay. As you approach the area, you begin to see the characteristic boulders strewn across the arid ground that stand as reminders of the volcanic action that took place here some 70 million years ago. Follow your guide down to the amazing Baths along a narrow trail set between huge boulders on both sides.
The Baths
Along a powdery, white sand beach, giant boulders are poised on top of each other in seemingly precarious positions. Weathered by time and the elements, a series of spectacular pools and grottos have been created. The site is a natural phenomenon and never fails to amaze its visitors. Take a swim in the clear, warm water, or squeeze through narrow crevices and discover small caverns where sunlight creates cool hues. The picture below the waterline is equally fascinating with small tropical fish darting through the crystalline water. A total of about two hours is spent at the Baths.
After hiking back up, rejoin the safari bus for a scenic island drive back to the local beach side restaurant where a freshly prepared lunch is served before returning to the marina and the boat back to Jost Van Dyke.
Please note: The boat trip to Virgin Gorda is 45 minutes each way via ferry and is un-narrated. Transportation on the island is in open safari buses and is an un-narrated transfer to the Baths.
