Focus on the First City - Photography

Explore some of the landscapes and seascapes of the first city of the New World during this picturesque, half-day photographic tour of St. John's, Newfoundland.


Colourful architecture, dramatic coastal landscapes, hills and valleys, and lush forest trails serve as a backdrop as you review photographic composition and content with an expert local photographer. Bring your digital or conventional camera with lots of film, and prepare to capture some Newfoundland memories. This tour helps novices learn to better understand their equipment and enables seasoned photographers to swap stories and techniques with an experienced local expert.


Depart the pier with a renowned local photographer for the brief transfer to ocean-side community of Fort Amherst. A stop is made to photograph the harbour and lighthouse before re-boarding your coach for the drive to the Quidi Vidi fishing village. Upon arrival, take a guided walk through the village and stop for photos along the way. Next, your drive continues toward the city, where a photo stop is made at a scenic viewpoint overlooking the city and the award-winning linear park surrounding the river winding through the city.


Following your visit, re-board your coach and drive to the downtown area to photograph some of the historic sights of St. John's. Photo stops include the National Historic Churchyard, which dates from 1699, the birthplace of the British Empire, and scenic rivers and parks.


Your tour concludes with a photographic review and wrap-up before re-boarding your coach for the brief drive back to the pier.
