The actual Great Barrier Reef is some 36 miles (57 kilometres) from Shute Harbour and cruising to the reef is without a doubt, the prime attraction of this area.
Perfectly situated in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, Hamilton Island is one of the enchanting islands of the Whitsunday group. The island is fully self-contained with its own airport, shopping village, commercial marina, restaurants, bars, takeaway food outlets, and a sports complex. Essentially the entire island is a resort.
The ship is scheduled to anchor in Fitzhalen Passage, a short distance from Hamilton Island. The ship’s tenders will take guests ashore to the Hamilton Island resort (transfer time is approximately 15 - 20 minutes).
Hamilton Island features fantastic shopping with 20 boutiques and specialty stores throughout the Marina Village and the Resort Centre, including a general store through to local art and fashion.
