Beautiful Barcelona with Lunch (Tour & Airport Transfer)

Guests with international flights departing after 7 p.m. can discover the beautiful architecture, landmarks and flavours of Barcelona during this picturesque, full-day sightseeing excursion.

Barcelona, Montjuic Hill, Olympic Ring, Olympic Games Buildings

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive along Montjuïc Hill. Montjuic was claimed by the city on the occasion of the 1929 International Exposition. In preparation, the mountain was developed with trade fair halls, sports installations, and parks and gardens throughout; today, it is the most important recreational area in Barcelona. Upon arrival, pass through the Olympic Ring and marvel at Barcelona City from your coach whilst passing by the many buildings constructed for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.

Poble Espanyol, Spanish Village Recreation, Shopping Stop

Your first stop features a guided tour of Poble Espanyol, a Spanish village on Montjuic Hill that was built for the 1929 International Exposition. This original project consisted of recreating the local architectural styles of each Spanish province. A village was built to represent an ideal model of 'Pueblo Iberico', which features replicas of around 116 buildings, squares and streets from all over Spain. The Spanish village also has large areas dedicated to Spanish art and crafts, where a stop is made to browse a variety of Spanish art, handicrafts and souvenirs.

Sagrada Familia, Exterior Photo Stop, Barceloneta, Local Restaurant, Spanish Lunch

This architectural gem on Barcelona's sprawling skyline is a reflection of the prodigal Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi's distinct imagination and style. Upon arrival, an exterior photo stop is made to marvel at its sublime façades. Leaving Sagrada Familia, re-board your coach and proceed for a traditional Spanish lunch at a lovely restaurant by the beach in the Barceloneta area.

Gothic Quarter, Cathedral, Airport Transfer

Whilst in the Gothic Quarter, a visit is also made to the late-13th-century Cathedral, built by Jaume II in 1298. At the conclusion of your tour, re-board your coach and commence the approximately one-hour drive to the airport for your flight home.

Gaudí’s Barcelona

Discover the whimsical art of the city's most famous architect, Antonio Gaudí, during this scenic, half-day sightseeing tour of Barcelona.

Depart the pier for the drive through the centre of the city towards the north and Colonia Güell.

Colonia Güell

A jewel of modernism still relatively unknown to the big public, Colonia Güell remains today as one of the most secret treasures of Catalan architecture genious Antoni Gaudí. Conceived as an industrial village to accommodate factory workers, Gaudi was in charge of building the church of the installations and even though the temple remained unfinished, the crypt is considered a culminating point of his works: the construction including for the first time practically all of his architectural innovations. After a guided visit, your tour continues on with an external visit to the Church of the Holy Family, or, 'La Sagrada Familia'.

La Sagrada Familia

This monumental but unfinished church is Gaudí's most famous masterpiece. Its towering spires are Barcelona's most prominent landmark. Many of the steeples Gaudí envisioned have not yet been built, and much of the structure is still exposed to the heavens. Take a walk around this unfinished church on an exterior visit for photos before continuing your drive through the Eixample District.

Eixample District Tour

The Eixample District is home to some of Barcelona's most stunning examples of Modernist architecture, especially along the elegant Passeig de Gracia. Important buildings such as the Pedrera House, the Batllo House and the Ametller House line this impressive thoroughfare.

Casa Batlló

Next, a visit is made to Casa Batlló. Originally a residence of a wealthy industrialist, Gaudí completely renovated the building between 1904 and 1906, and its façade is unsurpassed in the entire city. There are no corners; even the walls are rounded and the tile roof depicts the back of a dragon. Your guided walking tour of this Gaudí masterpiece includes the impressive main floor and rooftop, which features whimsical chimneys and offers spectacular views over the city.

Following your visit, re-board your coach for the return drive to the pier.

Follow your guide too through the vestiges of the Old Roman City of Barcino, medieval palaces and squares such as Plaça del Rei and Barcelona's main Cathedral of Santa Eulalia.

Public Markets

Just across Via Laietana, the oldest "path" in town, you will also visit the renewed Mercat of Santa Catarina, indeed a magnificent showcase of tradition, architectural innovation and recent archaeological excavations. In this area, just in front of the Market you will have the chance to taste the local flavours enjoying a snack.

La Boqueria

A lovely route which will bring you to the very entrance of the Mercat of La Boqueria, Barcelona's most popular and colourful market, where time will also be provided to enjoy the lively atmosphere of the place and sample local products, direct from a market stall.

Montserrat Monastery

Next, a visit is made to the Monastery. Here, see 'La Moreneta', the legendary Black Madonna, which presides over the basilica and has been darkened by the smoke of millions of candles throughout the centuries.

Shopping and Lunch

Afterward, some free time is made available for browsing and shopping before proceeding for lunch at a local restaurant. At the conclusion of this excursion, walk back to your coach and commence the approximate 75-minute drive back to the pier.

Sagrada Familia & Casa Vicens

Discover the magnificent architectural icons of Barcelona during this panoramic, half-day sightseeing excursion to a pair of masterpieces by world-renowned architect Antonio Gaudi.

Barcelona, Gaudi's Sagrada Familia, Modernist Gothic Church

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive to Sagrada Familia, Gaudì's masterpiece. Sagrada Familia is an iconic symbol of the Barcelona City skyline, a popular landmark for visitors from all over the world and often considered to be among the most extraordinary monuments ever constructed. This magnificent, neo-Gothic church was designed using the great medieval cathedrals as models for reference, and constructed in a Modernist style (the Catalan version of Art Nouveau).

Nativity and Passion Facades, Tour of the Church's Interior, Craftsmen at Work

The project and its realisation was entrusted to renowned architect Antoni Gaudì. Although just over 30 years of age at the time, Gaudì worked on Sagrada Familia for the rest of his life. Having begun in 1882, work still continues today following the plans laid down by its designer; the fact that you can observe one of the masterpieces of world architecture being constructed before your very eyes makes your visit even more fascinating. During your visit, your guide shows you the two completed facades (the Nativity and the Passion), then leads you inside the church, where expert craftsmen continue to work on a masterpiece in constant evolution.

Casa Vicens, Welcome Area, Permanent Collection, Temporary Exhibits, Garden

Next, re-board your coach and proceed for a visit to Casa Vicens. The first masterpiece of Antoni Gaudi, it sowed the seeds of his later works. Built between 1883 and 1885 as a summer house for the Vicens family, this UNESCO World Heritage Site showcases Gaudi's unrivalled talent. On the ground floor, there is an area to welcome visitors. The first and second floors feature spaces displaying the permanent collection focusing on the building, and the temporary exhibits and activities that make up the museum project. The garden and interior décor reflect the original surrounds of Casa Vicens, gardens of that time, and Mediterranean flora and fauna.

Basement, La Capell Store, Living and Dining Areas, Rooftop

The basement, which originally housed the coal cellar under the Catalan vaults, is now home to the La Capell speciality store/bookshop. The main floor, above the entrance and ground floor, housed the spaces for daily use; a central dining room surrounded by an enclosed porch, smoking room and foyer. The Vicens family's more private, intimate rooms are on the first floor; included are two bedrooms, a bath and a sitting room. The rooftop of Casa Vicens is a contemplative space featuring a walkway around all four sides of the pitched roof, with curved terracotta roof tiles to collect the water. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier.

The Character of Wine

Explore the original and unique landscape, production and wines of Can Ràfols del Caus during this picturesque, half-day sightseeing excursion.

Barcelona, Can Ràfols del Caus Vineyards, Massís del Garraf

Depart the pier for the scenic, 75-minute drive to Can Ràfols del Caus, one of the singular and attractive vineyards in Europe. The wines here come from a land unlike any other, the Massís del Garraf, and the austerely-beautiful landscape consists of a series of hills, some rising above 1,640 feet (about 500 meters), with steep slopes of up to 50 percent.

About the Can Ràfols del Caus Vineyards

Twenty-five years after starting his winemaking adventure, Carlos Esteva decided to build a new winery within the old one. The plan was not to increase the number of tanks, litres of wine or bottles, but to be able to work in better conditions. Since then, improvements in the micro-vinification and the ability to separate the grapes from different plots have significantly increased the qualitative potential of the vineyard. The new winery is, above all, a show of respect towards this unique environment, with architecture that unveils the historical side of the estate. With this objective, the ultimate design is a winery that is completely invisible from the outside; encrusted into the rock of the Massís del Garraf, and totally integrated in the landscape. Inside, several different levels enable the flow of the winemaking process with the simple effect of gravity.

Vineyards and Cellar Tour, Private Lunch, Tasting of Wines and Cavas

Can Ràfols dels Caus is one of the most singular and attractive vineyards in Europe. A guided walking tour of the vineyards offers an up-close look at how this property has managed to live in harmony with its surroundings for 2000 years. During a stroll through the vineyards and cellar, discover the magnificent winery hidden in the rocks of the Massís del Garraf and how wines are produced here. Following your tour, proceed to a private room for lunch with a tasting of four of their best wines and Cavas. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 75-minute drive back to the pier.

Your stroll continues through the maze of narrow, winding alleyways of El Call. Heralded as one of the best-preserved Jewish Quarters in the world, El Call is a place where time seems to have stood still.

Medieval City Walls, Girona Cathedral, Vaulted Ceilings, Stained-Glass Windows, Arab Baths

Next, walk along the medieval city walls that offer magnificent views of the town and surrounding countryside, or climb the staircase to the hilltop perch of the Girona Cathedral, and marvel at soaring vaulted ceilings and exquisite stained-glass windows. Your tour continues with a stop at the Arab Baths, a singular, 12th-century Romanesque construction that was inspired by Roman baths. The most outstanding elements of the Arab Baths include the entrance, which is covered with a barrel vault and was used as a changing room and relaxation area, and the cupola covering the central pool, which is supported by slim columns with ornately decorated capitals.

La Fortaleza Fortress, Atempo Restaurant, 19-Course Tasting Menu, Chef Jordi Cruz

Following your walking tour of Girona, proceed for a 19-course tasting menu at Atempo, a restaurant that occupies the most reserved part of the upper-floor of the Hotel Sants Metges. The chef of Atempo, Jordi Cruz, is a famous Spanish chef with three Michelin stars, and offers a new gastronomic format highlighted by his passion and creativity.

DAY THREE - Saturday May 22nd, 2021 - Cordoba

Seville to Cordoba

With nice souvenirs of the beautiful Seville, after Breakfast and check-out at Hotel Alfonso XIII, start your 105-minute drive to the city of Cordoba.

The Romans founded Cordoba and due to its strategic importance as the highest navigable point of the Guadalquivir River, it became a port city of great importance, used for shipping Spanish olive oil, wine and wheat back to Ancient Rome. The Romans built the mighty bridge crossing the river, now called "El Puente Romano". However, Cordoba's hour of greatest glory was when it became the capital of the Moorish kingdom of El-Andalus, and this was when work began on the Great Mosque, or "Mezquita", which - after several centuries of additions and enlargements - became one of the largest in all of Islam. When the Christians reconquered the city in 1236, the new rulers of the city were so amazed by its beauty that they left it standing, building their cathedral in the midst of its rows of arches and columns, and creating the extraordinary church-mosque we see today.

Hotel Hospes Palacio del Bailío *****

Upon arrival in Cordoba, your first stop will be at the 5 Stars Hotel Hospes Palacio del Bailío for registration.

This is a luxury boutique hotel in a converted 16th-century palace, located within the UNESCO World Heritage -recognized heart of Moorish Cordoba, a stone's throw from the Mezquita.

The palace was built on the remains of a Roman villa - whose archaeological ruins you can see through the glass floor of the dining room, floodlit at night - between the 16th and 18th centuries.

Mezquita-Cathedral, Old Quarter, Jewish Quarter

During the approximately 1-hour stroll of the Old Quarter, your guide will lead you in the visit of the Mezquita and its garden. The Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba, which construction began in 784 and last over two centuries, it is one of the most exceptional monuments in the world, a testimony to the ancient alliance of art and faith. Its Islamic architecture, with Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine touches, comes together with Christian architecture to create one of the most beautiful examples of its kind. Inside, among an impressive array of columns, arches and domes, we come across splendid works of art, which bear witness to the passage of the centuries.

During the walk, you will also pass by the Jewish Quarter, the Synagogue and the Alcazar.

Market tour with Chef, Cooking Class, Lunch

Local culture discovery passes by food too, meet then your local chef, head to the local market, and learn how to choose the best ingredients, get to know the vendors and talk to the other locals. It is now time to start the adventure! You will experience a hands-on cooking class together with your foodie host in a traditional kitchen with a patio. Chop, fry, stir, taste and voila, you have made your very first Spanish lunch.

Medina Azahara, Dinner, Overnight

After enjoying the 4-course lunch you prepared, the journey will continue with a short drive to Medina Azahara for a visit.

The Caliphate city of Medina Azahara is an archaeological site of a city built in the mid-10th century CE by the Umayyad dynasty as the seat of the Caliphate of Cordoba. After prospering for several years, it was laid to waste during the civil war that put an end to the Caliphate in 1009-1010. The remains of the city were forgotten for almost 1,000 years until their rediscovery in the early 20th century. This complete urban ensemble features infrastructure such as roads, bridges, water systems, buildings, decorative elements and everyday objects. It provides in-depth knowledge of the now vanished Western Islamic civilization of Al-Andalus, at the height of its splendour.
