Stevenson is located about 150 miles up the Columbia River in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. It is a prime jumping-off point for exploring the southern Washington’s Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Mount St. Helens and other outdoor treasures. The first settler in the region was L.F. Iman, who built a water-powered sawmill in 1852.
