Silversea Luxury Cruises To Stevenson, WA

Stevenson, WA

Stevenson is located about 150 miles up the Columbia River in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. It is a prime jumping-off point for exploring the southern Washington’s Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Mount St. Helens and other outdoor treasures. The first settler in the region was L.F. Iman, who built a water-powered sawmill in 1852. Years later, in 1893, George Stevenson, a settler from Missouri, purchased the site for $24,000 and built the original town along the flatlands near the river. View more

The city was officially incorporated in December 1907. A year later, the Seattle Portland & Seattle Railway arrived, pushing the town up the hill away from the river, and within a few years the town contained saloons, a hotel, a skating rink, and a ballpark. A ferry connected Stevenson to Cascade Locks, on the Oregon shore of the Columbia. Today historic Stevenson is a thriving small city with about 1,465 residents
