Lemnos and Home of Mama Marika

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive to the home of Mama Marika, an excellent local cook and the quintessential mother figure of Lemnos. Upon arrival, meet Mama Marika and begin your interactive cooking lesson in her kitchen. Learn the secrets of Greek gastronomy, and get hands-on experience in preparing the savoury treats of Lemnos whilst Mama Marika regales you with stories about her culinary adventures and lifelong cooking knowledge.


Interactive Cooking Lesson and Food Tasting

During your cooking lesson, help Mama Marika prepare fresh and delicious cheese pie, pumpkin pie and spinach pie using the island's delectable, world-renowned 'kalathaki' cheese as your main ingredient. In addition, lend a hand in the preparation of various other local recipes using fresh vegetables and herbs. Following your cooking lesson, sample the meals you've helped to prepare with a glass of local wine or 'tsipouro', a Greek brandy. Since the menu constantly changes, you may opt to visit more than once if you so desire. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board the coach and commence the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier.

Beach & Coast by Traditional Caique

Embrace the stunning beauty of the Aegean Sea during this relaxing, half-day caique cruise and beach excursion along the coast of Lemnos.


Depart the pier aboard a traditional caique boat for a cruise along the coast of Limnos, then proceed to the magnificent sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters of the north-eastern cape.


Cruise from one secluded beach to the next, then disembark at a private beach for approximately 1.5 hours to relax on the sand and swim in the turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea. A traditional Greek lunch with refreshments awaits you back on board the boat. After lunch, commence the return cruise along the coast and back to the pier.

Poliochni

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 50-minute drive to the archaeological site of Poliochni. Located opposite Troy, Poliochni started as a small Neolithic village dating from the 4th-Millenium B.C., and is considered to be the first organised European settlement. Archaeological treasures unearthed here include ancient pottery, jewellery, buckles, huts, barns, aqueducts, and parliaments.


British Cemetery and Wine Factory

Next, re-board your coach and head to the East Moudros Military Cemetery, where hundreds of British soldiers who perished during World War I are interred. After stops at the cemetery and World War II Memorial, drive to the Chatzigeorgiou Wine Factory. Upon arrival, proceed for a guided tour and tasting of local wines and cheeses. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach for the short drive back to the pier.

Agios Athanasios Mountain and Church

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive in a 4X4 Jeep convoy up Agios Athanasios Mountain. A stop is made at the Church of Agios Thanassis, located approximately 1,000 feet (305 metres) above sea level. Take in stunning panoramic vistas of Myrina, its castle and distant port, and learn about the island's history, Greek Orthodox religion and culture.


Gomati Beach and Sand Dunes

Next, re-board your Jeep and continue along the picturesque mountain roads to Gomati Beach. En route, a stop is made to pick some of the wild oregano growing on the side of the mountain. Upon arrival at Gomati Beach, stop for a refreshing swim and beverage, then take an exhilarating ride on the Gomati sand dunes.


Sardes Village and Lunch

Following your dune-ride, proceed to Sardes Village for a home-cooked Greek lunch at a local tavern. After lunch, re-board your Jeep and commence the approximately 35-minute drive back to the pier.
