Silversea Luxury Cruises To LA ROMANA

Neither pretty nor quaint, La Romana has a central park, an interesting market, a couple of good restaurants, banks and small businesses, a public beach, and Jumbo, a major supermarket. If you are staying for a week or more you may want to buy a Dominican cell phone at Jumbo. It’s a mere $20 for a basic one, plus minutes. It can save you untold money if you'll be making local calls from your hotel/resort. It is, at least, a real slice of Dominican life. View more

Casa de Campo is just outside La Romana, and other resorts are found in the vicinity of nearby Bayahibe. Although there are now more resorts in the area, this 7,000-acre luxury enclave put the town on the map. Casa de Campo Marina, with its Mediterranean design and impressive yacht club and villa complex, is as fine a marina facility as can be found anywhere; the shops and restaurants at the marina are a big draw for all tourists to the area.

Excursions in LA ROMANA

Altos de Chavon & Sailing Palmilla

Experience the stunning natural beauty of Punta Cana during this picturesque, full-day eco-trek and beach excursion.

Punta Cana

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 75-minute drive to Punta Cana, one of the Caribbean's most popular destination. En route, pass by majestic mountains and sugar cane fields. Upon arrival at the Scape Park excursion centre in Punta Cana, receive your safety and tour instructions, then begin your guided eco-trek to the Blue Lagoon.

Scape Park Eco-Trek and Blue Lagoon

During your eco-trek along the dirt trails of the Caribbean jungle, learn about and observe the area's flora, fauna and ecological systems, and marvel at the scenic splendour of the Blue Lagoon. The lagoon is located under the massive farallon (cliff), and formed by an underwater river. During your visit, some free time is made available to photograph your surrounds and swim in the lagoon.

Lunch and Juanillo Beach

Leaving the Blue Lagoon, return to the excursion centre on-foot, then proceed for a buffet lunch at the Scape Park restaurant, which is nestled amidst a tropical setting. After lunch, some free time is made available to browse the gift shop and explore the property before re-boarding your coach for the drive to Juanillo Beach. Upon arrival at this idyllic, long stretch of beach, you can relax with a refreshing tropical drink, take a dip in the inviting turquoise waters and participate in some water sports. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 75-minute drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking for approximately 0.9 miles (1.5 kilometres), at times over uneven ground and inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and at the sites visited. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear a swimsuit under your regular clothes. The cost of providing a tour program in La Romana is proportionately more expensive than in neighbouring ports. Unfortunately this is reflected in the prices of the tours and we thank you for your understanding.
