NORTHERN LIGHTS LUXURY CRUISES

It’s nature’s greatest light show; ethereal, ephemeral and completely unforgettable. Just imagine, a stunning palette of greens and blues dancing across the night sky. And right in the middle of it, you, standing silently serene in the chilly night air, taking it all in. If ever there was a bucket list must-do, a Northern Lights luxury cruise is undoubtedly it. After all, who has not dreamt of seeing the beautiful aurora borealis dance across a night sky? While we sadly cannot guarantee the elusive lights on every one of our Iceland, Greenland and Arctic Circle voyages, we can surely point you in the right direction with our selection of winter season cruises. And if you are not lucky enough to witness the wonder of the Northern Lights? Well, the plethora of wildlife from Polar bears to breaching whales plus the pretty shoreside villages make sure your travel experience is a good as it gets. Read more about Northern Europe.

What to do when not hunting the Northern Lights?

DO MORE ON SHORE
Silversea’s Northern Lights cruises have ports of call in the Arctic Circle, on the Norwegian coasts, in the Alaskan wilderness and on the Russian border and make sure there is no shortage of activities while you wait for the celestial spectacle to show up. Try dog sledding in Alaska, hiking with huskies in Tromso and even zipping around the Arctic Circle in a Zodiac looking for Polar bears. Get your cameras and binoculars at the ready as you’ll be spotting countless seabirds, sharing your breakfast with a breaching humpback and perhaps even be lucky enough to see the fabled light show when you’re back on board.

NORTHERN LIGHTS

DID YOU KNOW?
While we have all heard of the Northern Lights, who here is familiar with their little sister, the Southern Lights? Otherwise known as the Aurora Australis, the Southern Lights illuminate the skies of Antarctica, Ushuaia, South Georgia Islands and the Falkland Islands. Not quite as popular as their bigger sister - it’s much harder to get to Antarctica than Alaska (although not with Silversea!), the Aurora Australis lights up the sky with yellows and purples, as opposed to the greens and blues of the north. An absolute bonus for Aurora chasers …
