John Kelly, Ph.D., National Security Expert

Dr. John F. Kelly is a Professor of National Security Studies, a Fulbright Scholar, a Ph.D. in Political Science (international relations and diplomatic history) a Juris Doctor, and a diplomate in military law.  An expert in constitutional law and legislative procedure, he is a bar member of the Supreme Court of the United States and all lesser courts.  As Senator Kelly, he was elected to the Michigan State Senate, serving four consecutive 4-year terms.  He stood for election to the U.S. Senate, requiring retirement from the state legislature.  He served as a Governor in the Michigan university system, and culturally was on the Michigan Film Advisory Board and a Director of the Detroit Windsor International Film Festival.

John retired in 2009 as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, serving branches in Civil Affairs and Judge Advocate, a Foreign Area Officer, and Defense Attaché assigned to South Africa for a decade.  As a reservist after 9/11 he spent seven years as a liaison to federal law enforcement, conducting counter-terrorism research.  He is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College and the Judge Advocate General School and has been decorated many times for his contributions to the defense establishment during times of war.
