Silversea Luxury Cruises A Svolvaer

Svolvaer

Salt and pepper coloured mountains erupt from the ground behind the pretty port of Svolvaer, which opens up the extraordinary beauty of the Lofoten Islands. You'll never quite get over the majesty of the mountainous backdrop as you explore, although with natural wonders like the rippling Northern Lights, the Midnight Sun, and cruising pods of orcas to admire, there are plenty of distractions. The Gulf Stream shuffles warmer air here, so the climate is surprisingly mild considering how northerly the town is. View more

Wander the compact streets, to see the morning's haul of fish and shrimp on-sale in the harbour, and watch sightseeing boats heading off to some of Norway’s most incredible natural scenery.

Excursions depuis Svolvaer

The Lofoten Skerries by RIB

Experience the stunning coast of Svolvær in an exciting new way during this exhilarating speedboat excursion to the Lofoten skerries.

Depart the pier for the short walk to your awaiting rigid inflatable boat (RIB). Upon arrival, receive your safety and tour instructions, don your waterproof safety suit and begin your exciting adventure.

Leaving Svolvær Harbour, cruise past sweeping vistas of steep mountains and lagoons with white-sand beaches. Look out for sea eagles, and pass by the busy fishing villages of Mortsund and Ballstad. In addition, see a salmon farm and learn more about the fishing process before heading back to Svolvær.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of activity, with a few steps to negotiate to get embark/disembark the boat. This tour is not suitable for guests with back and/or neck problems, who are pregnant, guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing, flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection are recommended. Operation of this tour is subject to weather conditions.

Vikings & Vistas

Discover the stunning scenery and fascinating Viking heritage of the Lofoten Islands during this half-day sightseeing excursion.

Borg and Lofotr Viking Museum

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately one-hour drive to Borg. Upon arrival, proceed for a visit to the Lofotr Viking Museum, site of an ancient Viking farm accidently discovered at the end of the last century. Today, it has been reconstructed adjacent to where the remains of the original building were found, and is considered to be an archaeological sensation.

Located up a small hill, the Lofotr Viking Museum is an actual replica of a Viking home, with narrow doors, high thresholds and stone paths. The main building itself is approximately 272 feet (83 metres) in length, surrounded by various exhibitions and reconstructions, and offers a very realistic impression of life during those harsh times.

Unstad Viewpoint

Next, re-board your coach and drive to a nearby viewpoint for stunning oceanfront vistas over Unstad. After a photo stop here, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 1-hour drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 656 yards (600 metres), at time over uneven surfaces and inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and a few steps at the Lofotor Viking Museum. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing, flat, closed-toe walking shoes are recommended.

Picturesque Svolvær & Henningsvær

Experience the history, beauty and art of Norway during this picturesque, half-day excursion to Svolvær and Henningsvær.

Svolvær

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 45-minute sightseeing drive to Henningsvær. En route, pass through Svolvær, and see the yellow-painted Vågan Church. One of the biggest wooden buildings in the northern part of Norway, it is capable of holding up to 1,200 people. Upon arrival in Henningsvær, discover why it is known as the 'Venice of Lofoten'.

Henningsvær

This headland fishing village has a unique atmosphere and scenery that has attracted many artists wishing to capture its beauty on canvas. During your visit, take a guided tour of the Lofoten House Gallery. Marvel at the collection of paintings by Karl Erik Harr, one of Norway's most celebrated pictorial artists. The gallery also features paintings by other renowned 19th- and early-20th-century artists from Nordland, along with Frank A. Jenssen's captivating multimedia show bringing to life the changing seasons of the Lofoten Islands.

Following your tour of the Lofoten House Gallery, some free time is made available to stroll around Henningsvær. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 601 yards (550 metres), with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and stairs at the Lofoten House Gallery. Walking in Henningsvær is at the discretion of each guest. This tour is suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing, flat, closed-toe walking shoes are recommended.
