Silversea Luxury Cruises A Porto Mahon

Established as the island's capital in 1722, when the British began their nearly 80-year occupation, Mahón still bears the stamp of its former rulers. The streets nearest the port are lined with four-story Georgian townhouses; the Mahónese drink gin and admire Chippendale furniture; English is widely spoken. The city is quiet for much of the year, but between June and September the waterfront pubs and restaurants swell with foreigners. View more

Kayak Menorca

The island of Menorca, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1993, is a true paradise for sea kayaking. Menorca is the northernmost of the Balearic Islands where the landscape is like a mosaic due to its unusual geology. Little coves are interspersed with sandy beaches; colourful rocky coastal areas alternate with high cliffs, typical fishing villages and quaint little ports. It is the perfect natural setting to discover by kayak.

Kayak Adventure

Many of the untouched virgin beaches can only be reached from the sea, and so kayaking is often the way to find that empty white stretch of sand even in the height of the summer season. Unlike motor boats, kayaks can get really close up to the coast line, get to unusual and interesting places including exploring sea caves all whilst the only noise is that of the sea birds and lapping water.

Your Kayak journey begins at the bay of Fornells or the village of Es Grau in the S'Albufera Nature Park, depending on the wind direction and sea conditions. If the conditions on the north coast are not suitable then the kayaks will be moved to the south coast where it will be more sheltered and the seas will be calmer.

Upon arrival, receive your safety briefing, paddle and tour instructions before commencing your 2.5-hour guided kayaking adventure. With warm seas, pristine beaches and plenty of sheltered coves, the island is a perfect place to experience the unspoiled coastline full of marine and bird life as you paddle in crystal clear waters.

Once out of the water, re-board your coach for the return trip to the pier.

With rolling hills, quiet roads, and many unpaved trails, Menorca cycling is one of the best ways to explore the hidden parts of this unspoiled island.

Depart the pier for the drive to the activity centre. Upon arrival, receive your safety briefing, equipment and instructions before commencing the tour. Mountain biking is a sport that has long been enjoyed on Menorca and is now becoming popular with visitors of all ages and ability.

However, there are still some hotels, holiday complexes, a few shoppes, bars, restaurants, and a discotheque nearby. Upon arrival, a brief photo stop is made at this scenic locale.

Mahon

The tour returns to Mahon where you will leave the coach at the main square and walk downhill back to the harbour through the centre of town. The walk through this attractive town gives one a glimpse of the different phases in the islands turbulent history, the many architectural styles reflecting the frequent changes of rule.
