Silversea Luxury Cruises A Parintins

Parintins

The small village of Parintins lies on Tupinambarana Island, which is part of a large river archipelago in the mid-Amazon, 250 miles east of Manaus. In existence for two centuries, Parintins is rich in Indian culture that is represented in the celebrated annual Boi-Bumba festival. It is a ritual of magic, mystery, passion and faith that has been held here for over 80 years, inspired by local legends. View more

A stadium, the Bumbódromo, was built in 1988 to accommodate the over 40,000 spectators that come and take part in this festival each year. The Boi-Bumba is listed on the official Calendar of Events to be one of the highlights in Amazonas State. As a special treat, Silversea has arranged an exclusive performance, enacting the show for you with all the exuberance and vibrancy normally displayed in the real Parintins festival.

Amazona Folklore - The Boi Bumba Show

After the tender ride from the ship to the floating port, it's a short walk across the floating bridge to Parintins modern and fully air-conditioned Convention Centre, where a festive atmosphere waits, along with a delicious caipirinha welcome drink.

Boi Bumba Show

As anticipation mounts, you are escorted to the seating area to enjoy this exclusive Silversea presentation, a taste of Amazonian folklore, a Boi Bumba Show, exhibited in song and dance, with the performers celebrating the joy of life in a mesmerizing and rhythmic display. The show duration is approximately 60 minutes.

Witness how the people of Parintins exude a vibrant glow of beauty, happiness and pride in their culture as they carry on a part of their rich tradition that is rooted in a 19th-century fable. Similar in intensity and fanatic fervor to Rio's Carnival, the Boi-Bumba, meaning Bull Dance, is a three-day event held annually here in Parintins. The festival doubles the population of this usually sleepy town and is held in the stadium called Bumbórdromo, which holds 35,000 people.

At the conclusion of this exclusive presentation, take advantage of the opportunity to appreciate the lavishly designed costumes, and possibly meet some of the performers.

Still energized by the show's exhilarating theatrics, take the return walk to the pier or explore independently on your own the numerous souvenir stalls of local handcrafts located in the pier area.

Please note: This tour involves a minimal amount of walking, and is suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.
