Little Olhugiri Island is uninhabited and located at the southern end of Baa Atoll, which lies in the northern reaches of the Maldives. The island, lagoon and surrounding reef areas are protected. Olhugiri is one of two islands in the entire Maldives with regular roosting frigatebirds, mainly Lesser Frigates. Red-billed Tropicbirds soar over the atoll with their long, white tail-plume feathers fluttering in the slipstream created behind them. In addition, the island’s fine sand beaches are perfect nesting habitat for sea turtles.
