East of Lawrence Island, and much smaller, Inglis Island is covered in lush tropical rainforest and has extensive white powder beaches. Sea snakes, spiny lobster and huge parrotfishes are not uncommon here. Even the elusive dugong, or sea cow (the few that still remain in the Andaman Islands), are occasionally found north of Inglis Island. Birders will delight in the local White-bellied Sea Eagles, Brahminy Kites, kingfishers, hornbills, owls and parakeets. View more
All of this wildlife is present thanks to the foresight in protection of Inglis Island by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration back in the year 1971. The island has been a wildlife reserve for over forty years.
