Silversea Luxury Cruises A Fernando De Noronha

Dazzling white sand beaches lapped by transparent azure waters. Offshore, massive sea turtles swim amid a myriad of brightly colored fish. Playful schools of acrobatic dolphins zip in and out of the waves here in the Archipelago Fernando de Noronha, included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Only one of the twenty-one islands in this National Marine Park is inhabited by humans, leaving the rest to nature. The main island has seen service as a prison, American military base during WWII and as a satellite tracking station operated by NASA. View more

Today, it is the promise of excellent diving and snorkeling that attracts adventure seekers to this paradise off the coast of Brazil. A paradise for dolphins and giant turtles, as well as many other maritime species, Fernando de Noronha offers one of the most beautiful landscapes in Brazil - thanks to its clear ocean waters and their different colors, in tones ranging from emerald green to deep blue. The entire region is blessed with hundreds of schools of fish, including tuna, barracuda, and Brazilian species such as dourado, cavala, bicuda, and xereu. Skindiving and harpooning are made easy by the transparency of the waters, but hampered by the existence of sharks. Exploration of the Island is basically done on foot, however there are a few jeep vehicles and/or fishing boats and diving equipment for rent. Apart from travel around the Vila dos Remedios, you may want to visit one of the island's attractions such as several forts built by the Portuguese in the 17th and 18th centuries, to defend themselves from French and Dutch invaders. Pier Information The ship is scheduled to anchor off at east coast of the main Island, the Fernando de Noronha’s archipelago. Guests will be taken ashore via the ship's tenders to the island pier. The only existing village, the Vila dos Remedios, where the 1300 inhabitants of Fernando de Noronha lives is at 1mile or a 5-minute drive away. Taxis and open air jeep for rental are generally available at the pier. Cuisine Great seafood dishes are the specialty at the local restaurants, such the Nascimento and the Restaurante Ecologico, however Italian past is also founf at Trattoria di Morena or a barbecue dish at Tartarugão Boldro. Good and a strong, sweet coffee, or cafezinho, can round out your meal. Other Sites At Pico Hill and Alto dos Dois Abracos - the two highest points of Fernando de Noronha - enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the island and surrounding waters. Additional points of interest include Santo Antonio Bay and Southeast Bay; Cacimba do Padre - an absolutely deserted beach - with the purest waters in the archipelago. From Goat's Rock, you may watch the movements of sharks, either isolated or in groups - and a simply fantastic show presented by the dolphins at Dolphin Cove. Requests for private arrangements are not encouraged due to the limited number of English-speaking guides and or vehicles.
