Silversea Luxury Cruises A Aulitivik Island

Aulitivik Island

Aulitivik Island sits in the heart of the Ninginganiq National Wildlife Area, which was designated in 2010, and is the largest reserve of its kind in Canada. Some 150 to 200 bowhead whales, once extensively hunted, now have a protected area to safely gather. The whales are known to feed in two deep offshore troughs that are rich in marine life. Upwards of 100 bowheads have been recorded at one time in Isabella Bay, making this the largest recorded concentration of bowhead whales anywhere in Canada. View more

Other animals found here in healthy numbers include polar bears, ringed seals, Arctic char, halibut, and narwhal, Northern Fulmars, Snow Geese and King Eiders.
