Silversea Luxury Cruises A Amasra

Breathtakingly picturesque, isolated and historic, Amasra is a true Turkish delight. The beautiful arch of a Roman bridge, two sweeping coves, and a stacked, fortified island, lend the town a romantic beauty, and some real coastal charm. Relatively difficult to access by land, its location on the oft-overlooked north coast of Turkey means Amasra remains a refreshingly peaceful fishing town of the Black Sea, and a truly unspoiled gem of Turkey. The small, but fascinating, Amasra Castle stands guard over the town and its waterfront, and you can walk its stone walls, before turning to look out from its rounded turrets, to soak up the amazing views. You’re also sure to notice the curious sight of people living within houses that sit inside the castle’s walls. Amasra Museum, meanwhile, is jam-packed full of artefacts and weaponry from antiquity, as well as relics from the era of Ottoman dominance. The town is also home to a moving statue dedicated to the life of Barış Akarsu - a famous actor and musician in Turkey, who was tragically killed in a car crash in 2007, at the age of 28.
