Silversea Luxury Cruises A Sermelik Glacier

Sermelik Glacier

Sirmilik National Park was established in 2001 as a protected area in Nunavut, Canada. The name means "the place of glaciers" in Inuktitut and was first explored and mapped by westerners searching for the Northwest Passage. The region is rich in wildlife with beluga whales, seals, walruses, caribou, Arctic foxes, and Arctic hares to be found in the park, while narwhals and polar bears are known to frequent the area. Scores of bird species breed here each summer and the park is an important bird sanctuary. View more

Visitors can find thousands of nesting seabirds on some of the sheer cliffs within the park.
