Ko Miang is one of nine granite islands that make up the Similan Islands archipelago in southern Thailand. The archipelago is a national preserve that covers 140 square kilometers and attracts visitors interested in its diverse underwater ecology and pristine beaches. The islands were originally created by an upwelling of hot magma approximately 65 million years ago and subsequently smoothed by sea erosion.
