The Old Man of Hoy is a magnificent weathered sandstone sea stack, towering 450 feet above the Atlantic Ocean. It is the tallest sea stack in the UK. The word ‘Hoy’ comes from the Old Norse meaning ‘High Island.’ If it is looked from certain angles it resembles a man.
