Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 75-minute drive to Oldenburg. Upon arrival at the impressive, 15th-century Lappan, Oldenburg's most famous landmark, begin your guided walking tour through the Old Town of this historic city. Walking through the historic alleyways, see the Degode House, one of the oldest surviving buildings in the city.


Old Town Hall and Lamberti Church

From here, proceed for an exterior visit to the Old Town Hall, built in 1888 and regarded as the most original building from the Gründerzeit due to its triangular form. Continue past the 13th-century Lamberti Church. With its neo-Gothic hall church façade and Classicist interior rotunda, the Lamberti Church is a particularly fascinating building. Built in its original form around 1200, the church was demolished in 1795 except for its outer walls; the existing glass-domed, round church was subsequent built inside.


Pulverturm and Oldenburg Palace

Next, walk past the Pulverturm, or 'Powder Tower', the last surviving building in Oldenburg and a reminder of its former city fortifications. Remnants of the city wall can be seen at the side of the tower, which was built in 1529. Your last stop is an exclusive guided tour through the historic halls inside the splendid, 16th-century Oldenburg Palace. Built in 1853, the Simon Loschen Lighthouse is one of the most famous landmarks of Bremerhaven, and the oldest mainland lighthouse on the North Sea coast. On your way to the second lighthouse, Brinkamahof, see the dike up close. Upon arrival at the Lighthouse Brinkamahof, home of the smallest sailor's pub in Bremerhaven, a refreshment stop is made for a typical German fish roll and a cup of coffee.


Pringelturm Lighthouse

The last lighthouse is the 'Pringelturm', the only lighthouse with a fog bell. The most northerly lighthouse, 'Pringelturm' is located to the south of the entrance to the Caesar`s Lock, and its bell still operates when the weather is foggy. It features a 49-foot (15-metre-high) red brick building dating from 1900. Following your visit to the 'Pringelturm', board a coach for the short transfer back to the pier.
