Boston by Old Town Trolley

Relive colonial Boston's bustling seaport on a fully narrated Old Town Trolley Tour past the site of the Boston Tea Party and to see major points of interest such as Faneuil Hall, the Old State House, Boston Common and Public Garden, Trinity Church, Beacon Hill, CHEERS bar, Fenway Park, Cambridge and M.I.T.


You will see the historic North End, and across the harbor in Charlestown you will see the beautiful Bunker Hill Monument with a possible sighting of the celebrated warship, USS Constitution, "Old Ironsides".


Your tour concludes at Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall to enjoy some free time or you may choose to return to the ship. For guests stepping out at Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall, complimentary trolley* transportation is provided throughout the day returning to the ship. (This complimentary service is not exclusive to Silversea guests and is subject to space availability at the time of your return)


Please Note: This tour requires a minimal amount of walking for approximately 91.4 metres (100 yards) with 4-8 steps to board the trolley. This tour is suitable for guests with limited mobility however guests must be able to get on/off the trolley with minimal assistance or that of their travelling companion. JFK & the Presidents

Explore a pair of sites that evoke two U.S. presidents, John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Barack Hussein Obama, during this scenic, half-day excursion to the JFK Library and Museum, with a visit to Harvard Yard.


JFK Library & Museum

Depart the pier for the brief transfer to Columbia Point and tranquil Dorchester Bay, site of the striking I.M.Pei-designed JFK Presidential Library and Museum. Upon arrival, proceed to the comfortable theatre to view an introductory film of 1960s television footage and home movies narrated in part by President Kennedy.


Next, explore the exhibit area to see artwork, artefacts, and videos from his administration. Your visit also includes a look at the videos, possessions, clothing, and other items belonging to the First Lady, Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy.


Harvard Square

Your drive continues on to Cambridge for a visit to Harvard University, where President Kennedy and President Obama both attended. Upon arrival at Harvard Square, take a guided walking tour of Harvard Yard and the Harvard Law campus. Stroll through the beautiful grounds and learn about the background of this historic, elite institution. Along the way, pass by the statue of John Harvard, sculptures, and the bookstores and cafés lining Harvard Square.


Following your visit, re-board your coach for the drive through Cambridge and back to the pier in Boston, crossing the Charles River and passing by the campus of MIT en route.

Old North Church

Depart the pier for the brief transfer to Boston's historic North End. Upon arrival, leave your coach and take a walk to the historic Old North Church, also known as 'Christ Church'. During your guided visit, learn about the church's history and view original artefacts dating from 1723.


USS Constitution

Next, re-board your coach and drive to the old Boston Navy Yard for a photo stop of the USS Constitution. Built of timber in 1797, this authentically-restored frigate is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world. Undefeated in her career that included the War of 1812, she earned notoriety and the nickname 'Old Ironsides'. Next, proceed to the Freedom Trail.


Freedom Trail & Harvard Square

Your visit to this historic Revolutionary War site includes viewing the Old South Meeting House, Faneuil Hall, the Granary Burial Ground, and the Bunker Hill Monument. From here, drive through Back Bay, along Newbury Street and past Beacon Hill to Copley Square en route to Harvard Square. Upon arrival, take a guided stroll through Harvard Yard to explore the beautiful grounds of this world-renowned institution.


Then, re-board your coach for the return drive to the pier.


Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking, including an uphill walk to the Old North Church, level surfaces at Harvard Yard. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or those who utilise a wheelchair. We recommend lightweight comfortable clothing, comfortable closed toed walking shoes and a camera. The tour sequence may vary. The USS Constitution is currently undergoing renovation and the view of her is obstructed by scaffolding.

Lexington, Harvard & Concord

Relive the history of the New England towns that preserve the heritage and dignity of the country's beginnings during this scenic and memorable excursion in Boston.


Harvard Yard

Depart the pier for the approximate 30-minute tour through Historic Boston to Cambridge, site of the world-renowned Harvard University. Upon arrival at Harvard Square, take a guided stroll through the beautiful grounds and learn about the background of this historic, elite institution. Stop by the John Harvard Statue, the Georgian-style mansion of poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and along wealthy Tory Row.


Lexington

Next, re-board your coach for the drive past Mount Auburn, the gently-rolling hills of the countryside, and beautiful old colonial homes en route to Lexington and Concord. Upon arrival at Lexington Green, explore the site of a Revolutionary War battle and stop by the Visitor's Centre and Gift Shop.


Concord

Leaving Lexington, proceed past Author's Row to see country homes of such renowned 19-century authors as Ralph Waldo Emerson, Louisa May Alcott, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Henry David Thoreau. Your last stop is at the Concord River for an opportunity to stand on the North Bridge, where colonial farmers-turned-soldiers fired upon the King's army.


Your tour concludes with a picturesque, approximate 45-minute sightseeing drive from Concord before arriving at the pier.

It is not recommended for guests who utilise a wheelchair. Much of the sightseeing takes place from the coach. Walking the Freedom Trail

Travel back to Revolutionary Boston with a walk along the Freedom Trail. Your experienced guide will reveal the sites and scenes of critical events that paved the way for American Independence.


Freedom Trail Walking Tour

Depart the pier for the brief transfer to the Boston Common. Located on the edge of Beacon Hill, it is the oldest public park in America. Upon arrival at the gold-domed New State House, leave your coach and begin your approximate two-mile (about 3.2-kilometre) guided walking tour. As you stroll along Boston Common, view one of the most beautiful war memorials in the country, a bronze tribute to Robert Gould Shaw's 54th regiment.


Granary Burial Ground & Faneuil Hall

Next, continue on to the Granary Burial Ground, site of the graves of John Hancock, Samuel Adams, and Paul Revere, then take the Freedom Trail to the State Street Visitor's Centre. After a comfort stop, proceed past the Old State House to Faneuil Hall, the meeting hall of such famous speakers as John Hancock, Susan B. Anthony, and John F. Kennedy. Today, it is a bustling complex of shops and restaurants.


Old North Church

Leaving Faneuil Hall, pass by the Old Corner Bookstore, Paul Revere's House and the Old South Meeting House en route to the Old North Church, also known as 'Christ Church'. During your guided visit, learn about the church's history and view original artefacts dating from 1723.


Some time is also made available to browse the adjacent gift shop before proceeding to Quincy Market, where you may opt to explore the area independently or return directly to the ship via the shuttle bus.
