Bastia, St. Nicolas, Private Train-Ride, Citadel, Old Town
Depart the pier for the short walk to St. Nicolas Square, the meeting point of all the population, and board a wheel-train for the private and scenic ride to the Citadel. Upon arrival, de-board the wheel-train for a guided walking tour of Bastia's Old Town. Along the way, see the Cathedral Ste. Marie and Governour's Palace, then pass by Terra Vecchia, which extends from St. Nicolas Square to the Old Port.
Chapels, Oratio, Church of St. Jean Baptiste, Terra Nova, Citadel, Governour's Palace and Museum
Next, stroll along charming, unpaved streets, and by lovely little chapels and Baroque-styled oratorio such as the Oratoire St. Roch and 'flamboyant' Oratoire de l'Immaculée Conception before arriving at the Church of St. Jean Baptiste, famous for its twin campaniles. From here, stroll along Napoleon Street and the Terra Nova, which includes the Citadel, Du Donjon Square and impressive, 14th-century Governour's Palace, now a museum. A visit is made to this beautiful museum, which is highlighted by three main themes; 'Bastia's urban development', 'History of Bastia: Genoese capital, and political, social and economic centre', and "Bastia cultural centre'.
Boutique Wine Bar, Wine Tasting
Leaving the museum, walk to a 'cave', or boutique wine bar. Relax in this classy, elegant setting and sample locally-made Corsican wine. In addition, learn about Corsica's ancient winemaking roots, and the soil and climate that produces its unique blend of wines. Following your wine tasting, some free time is made available to enjoy your surrounds at your leisure. At the conclusion of your visit, commence the short walk back to the pier.
