The First Privately owned museum in Russia is Faberge Museum housed at Shuvalov Palace. The Faberge Museum has been established by "The Link of Times Cultural and Historical Foundation" founded in 2004 by Russian businessman Viktor Vekselberg, the foundation engages in projects related to the return of lost objects of cultural and historical significance to Russia. The most remarkable step the foundation has taken so far is the sensational acquisition by Vekselberg of the work by Carl Faberge (1846-1920), the Russian court jeweler.
This exhibition includes 4,000 works of decorative and fine art: Gold and silver jewelry, painting, porcelain and bronze. The collection, which took decades to assemble and continues to grow, is presented for the first time in the new Faberge Museum on Fontanka which, during the Soviet period, housed the Museum of Daily Life and then the House of Friendship and Peace.
The most valuable part of the museum's collection are the nine Imperial Easter Eggs created by Faberge for the last two Russian emperors. All of them are masterpieces of jewelry art, as well as unique historical monuments associated with the reign and personal life of Alexander III and Nicholas II.

Menshikov Palace
Depart the pier for a 15-minute coach ride to enjoy an inside visit to Menshikov Palace. It is located on the opposite side of Neva River Embankment facing the Bronze Horseman, and the monument to Peter the Great. The Menshikov Palace was the residence of Prince Alexander Menshikov, a close friend and ally of Peter the Great. The first stone building in St Petersburg was constructed in 1710 and was presented to the prince by the emperor. It is located in the very centre of a large urban estate of Vasilyevsky Island and is considered to be one of the oldest surviving stone buildings in the city.
Menshikov Palace was used by Peter the Great both as his residence and administrative building while he was in St.Petersburg. The unique appearance of the building and its courtyard took shape over the course of construction, which lasted for many of years. The palace combines traditional and new, as well as imported methods and forms, incorporating all the latest Russian achievements in the construction and art of the century. As part of the Hermitage, the Menshikov Palace was able to draw on the Museum's large collections incorporating not only former imperial property but also the property of the Russian nobility, including objects confiscated from Prince Menshikov. In 1981, the Hermitage Museum opened a permanent exhibition of works of art from the reign of Peter the Great at the Menshikov Palace. Twenty-one rooms are currently open to the public.
Log Cabin of Peter the Great
Following your visit to Menshikov Palace, re-board the coach for short transfer to the Log Cabin of Peter the Great for an inside visit. The Log Cabin of Peter the Great is situated on the right bank of the Neva river in the shade of large oaks. It is a unique monument of Saint Petersburg's architecture. The cabin was the first wooden house in St. Petersburg and is the only wooden structure of the city foundation period that has survived until today. It was constructed within a very short time - from the 24th to the 26th of May, 1703. The cabin made of hewn pine-tree logs and painted brick-like, was the first residence of Peter the Great in Saint Petersburg.
In 1930 this historical and memorial museum was opened to the public. During World War II the exhibits were evacuated or hidden within the city. The cabin itself suffered from bombing, but it was restored and opened to the public again in 1944. Nowadays, the exposition of the Cabin consists of Peter the Great epoch's objects, as well as personal belongings of Saint Petersburg's founder and his close associates.
Summer Garden Stroll

The garden, with a collection of sculptures and the Summer Palace was the first Emperor`s residence, constitute a single museum complex. The Summer Garden is a pearl in the garden necklace of Petersburg. It was laid out in 1704. Time has changed in the garden; however, its original planning still remains. Peter the Great wanted the garden of his residence to be as beautiful as the famous gardens of European Monarchs. To decorate the Summer Garden he commissioned marble busts and statues from Italy. This purchase laid down the foundation of the collection of sculpture of European level. The Neva fencing of the Summer Garden is an architectural masterpiece of universal fame, it monumentality merges miraculously with lightness, simplicity and grace.
Scenic Boat Cruise
Following the walk around the Summer Garden, proceed to the pier located in front of the main entrance to the Garden for A 45-minutes boat ride to view more of the city's sites from the water. The boat ride ends at the pier where you re-board the coach for the transfer to the pier where your ship is docked.
Please note: Tour involves extensive walking on uneven surfaces, and numerous steps to negotiate. It is not recommended for guests with limited mobility or for those who utilise a wheelchair. The route of the boat ride may vary due to high water level and bridge repair works. In case of stormy weather, the boat ride may not operate. The Log Cabin can be closed with our prior notice, in this case an outside visit to the cabin will still still be permitted.

Yusupov Palace
Depart the pier for a 30-minute transfer via coach to Yusupov Palace associated with one of the most controversial personalities in Russian history. Grigori Rasputin, and his dramatic assassination that has become a legend and mystery that still haunts visitors and fascinates historians.
Upon arrival start the tour by visiting Gala and private rooms of the Palace. The Yusupov family owned the palace from 1830 to 1917. The palace catches one's eye by its unique rooms such as the Moorish room with its beautiful mosaics and the Pool room with a secret compartment under the table. Admire the famous private theatre of the Yusupov Palace, which is small-scale copy of the Mariinsky Theatre. Every generation of the Yusupov family designed and redesigned some of the rooms, and as a result the palace has turned into a museum displaying historical interiors from the beginning of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century.
While passing through the exquisitely decorated interiors of the palace, the full story of the murder of Rasputin unfolds in front of you. Grigori Rasputin, a peasant and self-proclaimed holy man, had gradually won favor with the Tsar's family through his alleged supernatural powers. His control over the decisions of the family and the Russian ruler put him in a potentially manipulative position and posed a very real threat to their power. Consequently, Rasputin was murdered at the Yusupov Palace on the night of December 16, 1916, and his death proved to be an almost greater mystery than his life had been.
Canal Boat Ride to Spilled Blood
Following the visit to Yusupov Palace embark a boat for an hour long ride through the canals. The coach will bring the guests to the boat pier where the boat ride starts. After the boat ride the tour continues by visit to the Church on the Spilled Blood.
Spilled Blood Cathedral
The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood is one of the main sights of St. Petersburg, Russia. It is also variously called the Church on Spilt Blood and the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ. This Church was built on the site where Tsar Alexander II was assassinated and was dedicated in his memory.
The Church is prominently situated along the Griboedov Channel. The embankment at that point runs along either side of a canal. On March 13, 1881, as Tsar Alexander's carriage passed along the embankment, a grenade thrown by an anarchist conspirator exploded. The Tsar, shaken but unhurt, got out of the carriage and started to help the wounded around him. A second conspirator took the chance to throw another bomb, killing himself and mortally wounding the Tsar. The Tsar, bleeding heavily, was taken back to the Winter Palace where he died a few hours later.
A temporary shrine was erected on the site of the attack while the project for a more permanent memorial was undertaken. It was decided that the section of the street where the assassination had taken place was to be enclosed within the walls of a church. The embankment was therefore extended out into the canal to allow the shrine to fit comfortably within the building and to provide space on the exterior wall for a memorial marking the spot where the assassination took place. Inside, an elaborate shrine was constructed on the exact place where the bomb hit the Tsar, garnished with topaz, lazurite and other semi-precious stones. Amid such rich decoration, the simple cobblestones on which the Tsar's blood was spilled and which are exposed in the floor of the shrine, provide a striking contrast. The walls and ceilings inside the Church are completely covered in intricately detailed mosaics - the main pictures being biblical scenes or figures - but with very fine patterned borders setting off each picture.
After the visit, board the coach for transfer back to the pier.
Please note: Tour involves moderate walking with stairs to negotiate and is not suitable for guests who utlise a wheelchair. We suggest guests dress in seasonal attire and wear flat, walking shoes. In the event of inclement weather, the boat ride may be substituted with a coach transfer. Order of sites visited may vary. Photo and video fees will be charge to guests in Yusupov Palace who wish to utilise their cameras.

Upon arrival, admire the palace's beautiful, 984-foot (300-metre) azure facades; then ascend the Great Staircase en route to the beautiful staterooms on the second floor. See the gilded and opulent Great Hall, the Amber Room and the famous Green Dining Room. After the palace tour, take a brief guided stroll in the 1,400-acre (566-hectare) park.

Though the palace and the park were destroyed in 1941-44, they have been completely restored and present the most complete picture of a royal suburban residence.
Following your palace tour, take a guided walk in the romantic, 1,800-acre (728-hectare) Pavlovsk Park, one of the finest landscaped parks in Europe. Leaving Pavlovsk Park, re-board your coach for the approximate 1.25-hour return drive to the pier.

Faberge Museum
Following lunch, re-join the coach for the transfer to the Faberge Museum. The first privately owned museum in Russia, the Faberge Museum is housed at Shuvalov Palace. The Palace was originally built in 1790 for one of the Russian noble families, but in 1846 the Palace was commissioned by count Shuvalov and since that time it is known as Shuvalovsky Palace.
The Faberge Museum has been established by "The Link of Times Cultural and Historical Foundation" founded in 2004 by Russian businessman Viktor Vekselberg, the foundation engages in projects related to the return of lost objects of cultural and historical significance to Russia. The most remarkable step the foundation has taken so far is the sensational acquisition by Vekselberg of the works by Carl Faberge (1846-1920), the Russian court jeweler.
Following the visit to the museum rejoin the coach for the transfer back to the pier.

Explore the former residences of Russian Tsars, including UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the famous Peterhof Lower Gardens, during this visually-stunning, full-day sightseeing excursion.
Peterhof and Tsarina's Pavilion
Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately one-hour drive to Peterhof, and a visit to the exquisite, newly-restored Tsarina's and Olga's Pavilions. Built in the 1840s by Emperor Nicholas I for his beloved wife Alexandra and youngest daughter Olga, these architectural gems are located on two small islands in Olga's Pond, opposite the Peterhof Upper Garden. Tsarina's Pavilion includes Greek, Roman and Byzantine influences. Its Dining Room has an original mosaic floor from the excavations of ancient Pompeii, and Alexandra's study is adorned with two unique, 12th-century Byzantine mosaic columns. Highlights include splendid porcelain and bronze clocks and vases, marble and bronze sculptures, beautiful flowerbeds, fountains, Pompeian-style murals, and colourful draperies on the doors and windows.
Olga's Pavilion
Olga's Pavilion is very different from the one built for her mother, Empress Alexandra. This Pavilion was constructed in the style typical for 18th-century southern Italy, and meant to remind Olga of Palermo, which she once visited with her parents. The interior design of Olga's Pavilion is more modest and delicate. Marvel at the exquisite stucco mouldings, inlaid parquet floors, marble fireplaces and wonderful ornaments. The Dining Room and Pantry features different items from Olga's dowry, including silverware, porcelain and linen. After the Russian Revolution of 1917, both pavilions were neglected and almost totally destroyed during World War II. The restoration of these amazing pavilions began in 2001, and they were finally opened for visitors in August 2005.
Peterhof Lower Gardens and Lunch
Next, visit the famous Peterhof Lower Gardens. This approximately 300-acre (about 121-hectare) fountain park features a number of pavilions and palaces overlooking the Gulf of Finland, along with 150 fountains, including four cascades decorated with gilded statues of mythological characters. The park's upper-terrace offers a breath-taking view of the Grand Cascade, the largest fountain ensemble in the world and highlight of this venue. The Statue of Sampson Tearing Open the Jaws of a Lion dominates the Grand Cascade. Other fountains include the Checker Board Hill Cascade, Golden Hill Cascade, Lion's Cascade, Adam and Eva Fountains with statues by Bonazza, the Sun Fountain, Pyramid, and more. Following your tour, proceed for a Russian lunch at one of the finest restaurants in Peterhof.
Chinese Palace and Park of Oranienbaum
After lunch, re-board your coach and head for a visit to the 18th-century Chinese Palace and Park of Oranienbaum, located on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland opposite the town-fortress Kronshtadt. The Chinese Palace features the unique Glass Beads Study where walls are covered with twelve panels with glass beads embroidery according the fantastic pictures of the French artist of the 18th century J. Pillman. The interior décor includes an astonishing variety of art means and materials, decorative painting, furniture, porcelain and bronze. The palace's 17 interiors have picturesque decorated ceilings, with 12 of them made by Venetian Academy masters. The Park of Oranienbaum features approximately 3,229 square feet (about 722 square metres) of the rarest local and foreign wood. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately one-hour drive back to the pier.
Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and at the sites visited. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring a sweater or light jacket from the ship.
Relive the luxury of 18th-century Imperial Russia during this unforgettable, half-day evening excursion to one of the most amazing royal palaces.
Catherine Palace
Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately one-hour drive south to Pushkin, and a visit to the lavish Catherine Palace, formerly 'Tsarkoye Selo'. Upon arrival, you are greeted by Royal Guards in front of the palace, which features a stunning, approximately 984-foot-long (about 300-metre-long) aqua blue and white facade adorned with a profusion of atlantes, columns, pilasters and ornamental window framings.
Palace Tour, Golden Suite of Rooms, Amber Room and Grand Hall
This beautiful summer residence is renowned for its splendid interior, luxurious furnishings and fine china.
During your guided walking tour, view an exhibition of the Romanovs' portraits and private rooms before entering the Golden Suite of Rooms, where the world-renowned Amber Room is located. Presented in 1717 to Peter the Great by King Friedrich Wilhelm, the exquisite Amber Room was once considered to be the 'Eighth Wonder of the World'. Continue to the Grand Hall, which is highlighted by large windows, mirrors, gilded carvings and vast ceiling art, for a gala champagne reception accompanied by an orchestral performance of classical music.
Imperial Carriage Museum and Dinner
Following the reception, descend the main staircase to the courtyard, where the pageantry continues. The Imperial Guards parade to the music, and a carriage arrives with the royal couple for a final dance before departing. Leaving Catherine Palace, re-board your coach and head to the Imperial Carriage Museum. Here, marvel at the 23 coaches that were owned by renowned, 18th-century and 19th-century Russian and western European masters, and once carried Russia's highest nobility. Metro Ride
One of the tourist attractions is a ride on the Metro. The Metro's stunning stations were intended by Stalin to be "palaces for the people." Thousands of tons of marble, granite and lime stone were used to face the walls, sculptures, mosaics and chandeliers were commissioned from leading artists. The first line opened in 1955 is the most fascinating. You are shown a few stations and take a short ride on the train. The Metro ride is quite an experience and gives a glimpse of the daily life of the people of St. Petersburg.
Farmer's Market
A peek at St. Petersburg's markets and food stores provides an intriguing insight into local life. Many locals shop in the food markets where you can find fruit, vegetables, fresh meat and fish, delicious homemade cottage cheese and wonderful natural honey. Sellers in the market come from all over the former Soviet Union and one can witness quite a variety of nationalities there and enjoy friendly attitudes.

In May 2013, ABBA the museum opened its doors as a part of the new Swedish Music Hall of Fame. ABBA remains Sweden's most successful band of all time, with sales of 378 million albums around the world. ABBA The Museum will span the band's career all the way from the start in 1970, via the breakthrough with 'Waterloo' in 1974, the grand world tours and finally, the split in 1983.
ABBA The Museum
Since then, ABBA has lived on through a wide range of musical projects run by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, whose musical 'Mamma Mia!' revived the public's interest in ABBA's music yet again. An interest that never seems to fade - in 2013 'ABBA Gold' was officially named the best-selling CD ever in England. The museum will give you an overall picture of the band, the music and success they experienced in the 70 - and 80's.
Don't forget to enjoy the interactive stations; sing and dance with the band as the fifth member, sing karaoke to Dancing queen and more. With your ticket you will get it recorded and can then see it through their web-page when you get back home.

Alexandrinsky Theatre
Alexandrinsky Theatre is the oldest professional theatre in Russia. Its history goes back to 1756 when Empress Elizabeth founded it as a court theatre for comedy and tragedy performances. Since 1832, the Theater has resided in a magnificent building designed by the great architect Carlo Rossi in the very center of Nevsky Prospect. It was named the Alexandrinsky Theater in honor of Alexandra Fedorovna, the wife of Emperor Nikolas I. The theater crowns a unique ensemble of Rossi's buildings, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The theater has a 5-circle auditorium, a spacious stage, palace style lobbies, and a grandiose facade that became one of the emblems of the Imperial Capital of Russia.
Mikhailovsky Theatre
The Mikhailovsky Theatre is one of the oldest opera and ballet houses in Russia. Founded in 1833 and named after Grand Duke Mikhail, brother of Tsar Nicholas 1st, the Mikhailovsky Theatre is renowned for its ballet, opera and theatre productions. During its history the theatre has also been called the Maly Theatre with the famous Maly ballet being founded in 1933. In 1989 the Maly was again renamed, this time after the Russian composer Modest Moussorgsky.
The year 2007 witnessed the revival of the theater. First of all, the theatre returned to its original name "the Mikhailovsky Theatre". Secondly, the new General Director of Mikhailovsky, Russian businessmen Vladimir Kekhman, initiated and sponsored an extremely ambitious restoration project. In just 4 months the theater renovated the hall, stage, lobby, orchestra pit, plumbing, heating and electrical systems, plus the roof and façade - all just in time to kick off its new 175th season.
Under Vladimir Kekhman, a constellation of famous artists appeared in the theatre: Elena Obraztsova became the head of the Mikhailovsky Opera, Farukh Ruzimatov took the lead of the Mikhailovsky Ballet Company. In May 2009, Mikhail Messerer, the outstanding ballet repetiteur, took the position of Ballet Master in Chief, and was then appointed Principal Guest Ballet Master in 2011. In June 2009, the Mikhailovsky Theatre started its cooperation with Peter Feranec who was later appointed Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Theatre. Nowadays Farukh Ruzimatov and Elena Obraztsova continue their cooperation with the Mikhailovsky Theatre as Artistic Advisors to the General Director. Famous ballet répétiteurs such as Nikita Dolgushin, Alla Osipenko, Evgeny Popov, and Svetlana Efremova among many others are responsible for the quality of the current repertoire. Leading ballet masters of Europe and America such as Natalia Makarova, Jennifer Goubé, Gilbert Mayer, and Cyril Atanasoff hold master classes at the theatre.
The priorities of the repertoire policy of the Mikhailovsky Theatre are classical masterpieces of Russian and European musical theatre. The Mikhailovsky Theatre maintains the policy of introducing the public to the major opera and ballet works of the 19th and 20th century. Special attention is paid to expanding the children's repertoire.
The rejuvenation of the venue, coupled with a drastic rise in attendance, has allowed the theater, once frequented by Tsar Nicholas II, to reclaim its fame as the city's "high-society theater of choice."
After the performance, re-board your coach for the approximate 30-minute return drive to the pier.
Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking, with stairs to negotiate at the theatre. The Alexandrinsky Theater is equipped with an elevator. The Mikhailovsky Theater has a ramp to access the orchestra seats level. Guests who utilize a wheelchair should be able to embark and disembark the vehicle without assistance. Schedule may vary depending on the performance. Photography or videotaping is prohibited during the performance. Guests are encouraged to dress in smart casual attire. Act lengths may vary depending on the performance. Due to limited availability of tickets, we suggest reserving early to avoid disappointment. Although we do our utmost to secure the best seats for our guests, seating assignments are distributed at random and are not based upon the time of booking. The ballet company has the right to change the performance without prior notice.Once requested, this programme becomes 100% non-refundable within 45 days of sailing.
