Costa Maya Jeep & Beach Tour

Enjoy the perfect combination of lush jungle and turquoise blue sea during this half-day excursion by Jeep, including a beach lunch.

Join your guide on Costa Maya's original eco-adventure as you drive on jungle roads, isolated terrain, and on to a white, sand beach. Your bilingual guide escorts you to the vehicle which is shared by 4 other guests. Then follow the lead vehicle in caravan-style through the quiet fishing village of Mahahual.

A quick stop is made at the village as your guide explains how this small town has rapidly turned into one of Mexico's most promising cruise ship destinations. Once everyone has gotten back on board their vehicle; off you go into the jungle and the bumpy portion of the ride.

The road surface can be quite rough, so hold onto your hats, as you follow your guide over the jungle road. Along the way, encounter endless stretches of beach with the occasional fishing village and view a side of the Caribbean that not everyone has had a chance to see.

After an hour drive down the coastline, arrive at 'Pleasure Beach'. The white powder sand on this remote beach may be the perfect destination after your drive. During your stay at this beach outpost, enjoy lunch, relax in the clear blue water or stroll down the coastline. Take in the pleasant rays of the Caribbean sun or play a game of beach volleyball. This stop will last approximately one hour.

At the end of your beach stop, re-board your Jeeps for the return drive through the jungle and on to Costa Maya.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate to extensive amount of driving over rough roads that are not paved. The drive may be exceptionally bumpy after periods of rain and is not recommended for guests who may be pregnant, suffer from back or neck problems or those who have respiratory or heart conditions. Jeeps are all equipped with manual transmissions. Drivers must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid driver's license in their possession. All vehicles must remain with the group throughout the tour. We recommend guests wear lightweight, comfortable clothing over their swimsuit, sun protection and bring a towel from the ship. The route is over unpaved surfaces and you may get dirty. A light lunch is provided at the beach. A signed waiver is required to participate.

Salsa & Salsa Beach Break

Have some Mexican fun learning to make authentic Mexican salsas and guacamole, drink margaritas and learn how to dance salsa on the beach during this half day outing.

Depart the pier in your transfer for the short ride to a Beach Restaurant with a beautiful view, for a hand's-on Mexican salsa cooking class. Your guide will take you through the steps of making authentic Mexican salsas and guacamole from the freshest ingredients. You'll have tortilla chips to taste your creations and can take the recipes home with you. Quench your thirst with complimentary margaritas that you will learn to make as well. Mexican beer or flavored waters are also available.

Afterwards, your guide will show you how to step, sway and get into the groove of Latin America's most famous dance- the Salsa. Follow step-by step instructions and you'll soon be ready for the dance floor.

After your class, you'll have free time to enjoy the beach beak. When time's up, you have the option to either return to your ship or stay at Beach Club and extend your day in this tropical paradise. (Taxi coupons will be given to return to the ship on your own).

Leave the crowded pier behind and head off to the secluded Costa Maya Channels for an exclusive fly-fishing tour. No need to be an expert, our professional guides will help you every step of the way showing you techniques to catch Bonefish, Tarpon, Permit, and many others in a catch and release format.

The Mayan Indians once used these fishing spots to transport wood, fish, seashells, and conch from the Costa Maya peninsula to the mainland. They were later used by the Maya to elude capture by the conquering Spanish and sometime later, pirates hid in them to ambush cargo ships and Spanish galleons as they made off with treasure taken from the Maya. After centuries of isolation the channels have become a perfect sanctuary for fish and birds of all species. These days these channels and flats boast Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit, Snapper, and Snook to name a few and are ranked by many anglers as one of the most privileged fishing areas in the world.

Depart the pier by van for the approximate 20-minute drive to the dock to board your panga-style fishing vessel. Soft drinks and snacks will be available during your 4-hour fishing experience. Following your time on the water, re-join your transfer for the return drive to the pier.

Please note: Tour involves moderate activity and is recommended for guests in good physical condition.
