Day 1 -Disembark Silver Muse and transfer to the airport for your flight to Ulaanbaatar. Late arrival and transfer to the Shangri-La Ulaanbaatar.
Day 2 -After breakfast, transfer to Ulaanbaatar airport to fly by a chartered MI8 helicopter via Murun to Ulaan Taiga. Here you will have a chance to visit the lesser known Tsaatan and meet the reindeer herders of northern Mongolia. From there the private helicopter will take you to Lake Khuvsgul for dinner and overnight at the Dream Khuvsgul.
Day 3 -During the morning, leaving Lake Khusgul, which is said to contain 1% of the world's freshwater, you will drive through the beautiful northern Taiga landscape. At noon, fly back from Murun to Ulaanbaatar. A late lunch at Millies -considered Ulaanbaatar's best café- will be followed by a city tour of Mongolia's capital. Overnight at the Shangri-La Ulaanbaatar.
Day 4 -During the morning, you fly from Ulaanbaatar to the center of Mongolia's westernmost province. A late lunch will be served at the Pamukkale Turkish Restaurant serving Turkish and Mongolian food. Before we drive to the Nomads Camp, we will have a look at the village of Sagsai, famous for its Kazakh eagle hunters. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 5 -Today we will learn about the way of life of the Kasakh, visiting their traditional dwellings and attending a small local festival ceremony. This will be a great opportunity to see how they train the Golden Eagles that they use to hunt hares and foxes while they ride on horseback through the mountain ranges. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 6 -During the morning, we will drive through the mountain landscape of Bayan Ulgii and have lunch before the flight back to Ulaanbaatar in the afternoon. Transfer from the airport to the Tuul Riverside Lodge, east of Ulaanbaatar. After dinner, the group will enjoy a local traditional concert at a pagoda.
Day 7 -Today you will have the unique opportunity to attend a Naadam, a local festival that consists of horseracing, archery and wrestling. Naadam -the three games of men- was inscribed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2010. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will continue to the Gorkhi Terelj National Park and the Terelj Hotel. Enjoy a special farewell dinner.
Day 8 -In due time, transfer to Ulaanbaatar airport for your onward flight.
