The former president of a Washington-based think tank, Rob Warne served for 28 years as a Senior Foreign Service Officer with the US Department of State. Specializing in international economics, he held a variety of senior posts at the Department and abroad, including in Latin America. Rob Graduated from high school in Rio de Janeiro. He was Director of Latin American Economic Affairs as well Caribbean Affairs at the State Department. He was Commercial Attaché in Argentina and Deputy Ambassador of the US Embassy at Kingston, Jamaica.
A graduate of Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School for International and Public affairs, Rob received an advanced degree in economics at The Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies. He co-authored two books on international relations. He has also lectured throughout the United States and abroad on international economic and security issues. He served two years in the U.S. Army artillery as a battery commander and executive officer.
A native of the Washington, DC area, Rob has lived in ten countries abroad on four different continents. He is married to the former Susanna Ludwig Hassel, a specialist in learning disabilities. She was a teacher and administrator in special education in the Fairfax County School system.
