Ph.D. Ernest Freeberg,
Ernest Freeberg is a Distinguished Professor of Humanities and head of the history department at the University of Tennessee. For many years he as served as a distinguished lecturer for the Organization of American Historians, and is the author of several award-winning books, including one that was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize.
He has lectured widely on a range of historical topics, and has made a number of media appearances, including the PBS American Experience program, National Public Radio, and C-SPAN. He holds a BA from Middlebury College and a doctorate from Emory University. During the school year he lives in Knoxville, Tennessee, and spends his summers with his family on the coast of Maine. He is currently working on a book on the history of retirement.
