Formerly a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts and a Research Director and Senior Lecturer at the University of Exeter, Dr. Peter Quartermaine has lectured throughout the world on art, architecture, photography, and modern literature. Now early retired from academic life, he divides his time between writing and travelling – especially in the Mediterranean area.
Dr. Quartermaine earned his Doctorate in Photography and the Visual Arts with research in Australia and has held research fellowships in Canberra, Miami Beach, Perth, and Venice. A Research Associate of London’s National Maritime Museum and an Associate Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), his most recent book, Cruise: Identity, Design and Culture, was published in 2006.
Peter’s richly-illustrated presentations – comprising many images from his own extensive collection – will celebrate the long histories, spectacular public buildings, and contemporary charms of our Mediterranean destinations.
