Despite reading History at Trinity College Dublin, Evelyn went on to train as an advertising copywriter and later creative director at the advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather. Evelyn worked in Hong Kong, Sydney, Manila, Singapore, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. Her working role was unusual as she was granted work permit status in countries where expatriate women were not allowed to work and, as a result, enjoyed numerous unique experiences.
With a private pilot’s license, flying was, for many years, Evelyn’s passion closely followed by hot air ballooning. As an active member of the Hong Kong Motor Sports Club, Evelyn competed in club activities and marshaled at the Macau Grand Prix and the Rothmans Rally of Hong Kong to Beijing. In Singapore she played hockey, in Manila, she rowed in a Ladies Four. Today, scuba diving and growing orchids are her main interests.
