Growing up in the Blue Mountains in NSW Australia, Kate’s love and interest for the outdoors was inevitable, spending most of her time exploring her surrounding landscape and learning about her natural surroundings and its wildlife.
Kate completed her Diplomas in Business Management & Tourism where her passion for travel and thirst for knowledge took her on her ‘walkabout’ as she set off in 2005 to live & work on an Island off the Capricorn Coast of Australia. She used her free time hiking and exploring her surroundings while also gaining experience in the tourism and hospitality industry.
After spending some time living in New Zealand Kate moved back to Australia in 2008 and began working for Silversea Cruises in the Sydney office and became even more eager to explore the world before being transferred to the London office and spending time travelling over Europe learning of its histories and cultures.
In 2012 Kate began working on the Silver Explorer as she set sail on her first expedition from Norway down through the British Isles. With the knowledge of the Silversea fleet and enthusiasm to begin her new life, Kate officially joined the expedition team as Staff Assistant and also continued working in Chile & Antarctica as Assistant Expedition leader. In 2014 Kate joined the Silver Discoverer on her inaugural voyages along The Kimberley coastline. With a passion for the flora and fauna around the globe she spends most of the year onboard expedition vessels travelling to Antarctica, Arctic, Norway, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Africa, South America, Ireland, Scotland, Canada and the South Pacific.
