Ivan Vasquez was born in Quito, Ecuador. He moved to San Cristobal, Galápagos at the age of five. He grew up in the islands among a family of artists. He founded the first musical band in San Cristobal Island, and recorded two albums with inspiration from the Galápagos. His group, Arkabuz, toured all over the country and received several prestigious awards, including best band in the country for 2009, and best album production for 2008.
In 2010, he discovered a new art tool to express his creativity; a camera. Ivan is an avid naturalist photographer and environmentalist.
Ivan also promotes cultural development in Galápagos through various venues, including the annual Beagle Festival held in San Cristobal, as well as art and educational workshops for the community.
