As part of the fifth generation of a traditional Galapageño family from San Cristobal Island, Israel’s heart belongs to Galapagos. Israel was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Guayaquil is considered the Nation’s main port and is called, “La Perla del Pacífico,” or “The Pearl of the Pacific.” Growing up in the Islands, he was involved as a volunteer in different projects of conservation, and developed a real love and respect for nature.
In 2008, he finished his formal education and received a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. In 2009, he became a Naturalist Guide of the Galapagos National Park. Since then, he has been working and sharing his experiences in this unique paradise. His passion for hiking, traveling and stargazing makes his job the perfect fit. However, he realizes that the most essential aspect of his job is to convey to visitors the importance of species conservation because, “Conservation” is an integral part of the Galapagos Culture.
