Annabel Matthews,

Historian & Environmentalist
Annabel Matthews

Annabel was born and raised in Australia, but has explored many continents from a young age. When she was only 15 years old, she took her first adventure to Africa, and has not stopped travelling since.
After completing a Bachelor of Arts in Modern History & Politics at Macquarie University in Sydney, Annabel was invited to undertake an Honours Degree in Modern History. Her thesis focused on themes of racial difference and evidence of Australia’s determination to expand its sphere of influence in Papua New Guinea during World War II.
For the past few years, Annabel has been part of expedition cruises to the Kimberley region of Australia, New Zealand and Sub-Antarctic Islands, Borneo, Sulawesi and Indonesia. In 2012, she was part of a documentary crew that filmed in the Sub-Antarctic Islands, capturing footage of a rare Leucistic Yellow-Eyed Penguin on Enderby Island.
