Steve Kroft Among Luminaries Of Television, Journalism And Literature Set To Host Silversea Enrichment Programs

Lauderdale, FL -- March 1, 2007) Award-winning 60 Minutes co-editor and CBS News correspondent Steve Kroft is set to join a remarkable lineup of talent slated to host enrichment programs for ultra-luxury Silversea Cruises this year. Other distinguished personalities include Jennet Conant, bestselling author of Tuxedo Park; Rex Pickett, whose novel Sideways became a mega-hit film; Terry Hughes, award-winning British TV producer and director; Michael Buerk, legendary BBC news correspondent and anchor; James F. Steve Kroft and Jennet Conant will team up to host a series of presentations aboard Silver Cloud's 10-day "Landscapes and Legacies" voyage, sailing July 30 from Venice to Nice with calls in Hvar, Dubrovnik, Sicily, Sorrento, Rome and Portovenere. In 1994, Kroft became the first U.S. reporter to actually enter the crippled reactor building. He is a recipient of three George Foster Peabody Awards and eleven Emmy Awards. His wife, Jennet Conant, is the author of the 2002 New York Times bestseller Tuxedo Park: A Wall Street Tycoon and the Secret Palace of Science That Changed the Course of World War II. A former journalist, Conant has written for Vanity Fair, Esquire, GQ, Newsweek and The New York Times.

Rex Pickett came to prominence when his novel Sideways was made into an Academy Award-winning hit film chronicling the adventures of two friends on a road trip through California's Santa Barbara County wine region. Pickett will host screenings and discussions on the art of film-making, including a special screening of Sideways highlighted by a Pinot Noir tasting that's sure to delight wine lovers. His presentations are slated for Silver Shadow's 15-day "Pacific Interlude" voyage, sailing December 8 from San Diego to Fort Lauderdale with calls in Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, Acapulco, Puerto Quetzal, Costa Rica and San Andres Island. Award-winning British TV producer and director Terry Hughes is uniquely qualified to offer an insider's perspective on British and American comedy. Hughes, a former head of BBC TV Variety, oversaw production of such shows as the long-running comedy The Two Ronnies, for which he earned seven BAFTA nominations and one award. After relocating to Los Angeles, his many achievements include a Directors Guild of America Award, six Emmy nominations and an Emmy Award for outstanding directing for the situation comedy The Golden Girls. Join Hughes when he hosts Silver Wind's 15-day "Mosques and Monuments" cruise, sailing June 7 from Istanbul to Rome, with calls in Mykonos, Kusadasi, Rhodes, Tartous, Alexandria, Crete, Malta, Sicily, and Sorrento. British broadcast journalist Michael Buerk, whose distinguished career at BBC News spans over 30 years, is perhaps best known for his reports on the famine in Ethiopia in 1984, inspiring Bob Geldof to organize the famous Live Aid appeal. In 1985, Buerk was named Television Journalist of the Year by the Royal Television Society and subsequently won a second RTS award for foreign reporting. Lowe is a leading authority on architectural history, a cultural historian and author. His books include Stanford White's New York, Chicago Interiors, The Great Chicago Fire, Beaux Arts New York and Art Deco New York. He will lecture on Greek and Roman architecture.
