Silversea Cruises H1n1 Flu (Swine Flu) Statement

1 May 2009

Silversea Cruises understands that our guests and travel partners may be concerned by developments with the H1N1 flu (swine flu).

The safety and well-being of our guests and shipboard staff is always of utmost importance to us. Accordingly, we are closely monitoring the health advisories concerning the H1N1 flu situation.

Although we understand the risk of contracting this illness is quite small, we are taking precautionary measures that include:

  • Screening embarking guests, crew and visitors for exposure to or symptoms of influenza.
  • Implementing enhanced sanitation protocols aboard all our ships to minimize the spread of contagious disease.
  • Maintaining anti-viral equipment and medications to treat guests or crew who display flu-like symptoms, if necessary.

We will continue to follow developments and encourage you to learn more about the steps you can personally take to stay healthy, such as:

  • Avoid contact with ill persons.
  • When coughing or sneezing, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or with your sleeve if you don't have a tissue.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, or use an alcohol-based hand gel, especially after coughing or sneezing.
