Dr. Peter Crimes recently retired as Director of the Geography and Geology Honours Department of Liverpool University, which is the largest and one of the most prestigious Earth Science Departments in the European Community. He published over 60 papers in international scientific journals, with his co-authors drawn from 15 countries. He also engaged in research projects in 27 countries and has lectured in over 30 countries, including many of the world’s foremost Universities such as Berkeley, Harvard, Chicago, Kansas, Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol, Imperial College, Uppsala, Sao Paulo, Warsaw, Moscow, Kiev, Novosibirsk, Paris, St. Petersburg, Beijing, Wuhan, Chengdu, Kunming, Adelaide and Sydney.

Peter was a scientific advisor to numerous state funding bodies including: National Science Foundation of America, Royal Society, Natural Environmental Research Councils of Canada and the UK, Academy of Sciences of Sweden, China, Russia and Argentina (Conicet).

He also has over 30 years experience of destination and port lecturing and has taken over 150 cruises, covering 350 ports.  In addition, he is one of the world’s finest travel photographers with a collection of over 100,000 transparencies which are marketed by the highly prestigious Getty Images who will only represent the very best professional photographers.

Television and radio have also commanded Peter’s attention and he produced a 45 minute prime time program for BBC TV entitled Pompeii – City of the Dead as well as appearing many times on the main news for BBC and ITV.
